It's been proven that people have become a lot taller now than in say, the middle ages. Nutrition is the primary reason.

This is actually UNTRUE
Check the height of South Koreans (who are basically the global average) vs North Koreans, like 6" difference
All this pseudoscience sucks, lets stop
now
Because Koreans are actually Chinese :new_Eyecr
oh wait, I get what you're saying, democracy makes people taller!

No, it's because the south koreans aren't the ones starving. . .
Also, the middle ages was a time of relative height, with 6' being a fairly normal height for caucasian males. The Industrial Revolution and all the **** it brought and awful nutrition started to bring height down again until more modern times (late 1800s)

Thats why I can't figure out why my grandfather is so tall he was poor so he couldn't afford good food.
This thread is bad news and it will only get worse. :car8:I have not ever agreed with anyone more.

well you know, that..... and the fact that people living in the middle ages rarely made it to full adulthood.
I'd also argue that the mixing of various racial groups also breeds many favorable traits.

Can you explain more in depth?

SO you're saying that people from the most poor countries are always the shortest, I see.
Also, can you prove that 6' was an average height in the middle ages for caucasion males?

I guess my question is too touchy.

not in depth, no.
Lets just say that when you isolate a population the genetic pool becomes quite shallow.
The more diverse a population the more chances for adaptability of varied traits.
Japan for instance, is a damning argument for Camus. Plenty of cash money in relation to a 3rd world nation, but do to genetic isolation, they are facing a problem with a stagnant genetic pool.

The average young Japanese male (ie: Japan being a successful 1st world country) is 5 ft 7.2 in, the average in France (very white country) is 5ft 9in. 2 inch difference.
Average North Korean male 5'4", south Korea 5'8". Same race, as you can see, while there is variation through genetics, a very large variation also exists due to poor nutrition.
Do you consider Indians short? The average height of an Indian, raised in India, is 5'6". Nutrition is a huge factor.
So, while, yes, genetics have a role, nutrition is a huge factor.
In any case, I hope some prick moderator locks this beacuse it's a useless conversation, only good for drawing out the closet racists.
You can check these facts online is you don't believe me, try wikipedia or something.

Ok, so you admit that race does have to do with physical stature, ok.
The point of me referening Japan was to prove that.
As far as the korean issue, yes, of course. If you feed people more they will grow more. I would never argue against that point.
However, it's not relevent as far as race goes in my mind, because now we are dealing with the height of an individual, not the race in general. I was talking about race, not the individual. individuals who eat more, grow more. absolutely. But what of a race that eats lots, but grows little? Can't we just admit that some races are shorter than others biologically?
Also I dont see why this has to become a flame-war between racists, I have not observed any racists posting in this thread yet.
This is bullshido and I think this can be discussed without it becoming a race war.

It's not a matter of 'admitting' anything, it's a matter of 'what is the biggest factor?'
I just illustrated a variance of 2" between two different 'races' (one colloquially considered to be taller than the other) and a 4" variance between persons of the same race with differing nutrition.
SO
What's the biggest factor?
What does this matter?
Have you considered sociological factors? IE given that in our society, black youth are led more towards physical culture as their means of success and therefore more active/athletic than their counterparts in other races who are more raised to be academically successful (asians)?
I just don't see a point in this crappy pseudoscientific discussion.

You can't breed things in or out of human populations in 400 years. Maybe you could with modern genetic science, but back then they had to wait for things to express, it would be hard as hell to increase the viability of something with a generation as long as a humans.
Black people look fitter because they tend to be a few points lower in surface body fat, just like they tend to have curly hair. It's cosmetic. Black people also don't dominate every sport. There are sports with low black participation - hockey, swimming . . . the entire winter olympics...
Personally, I think the difference is cultural. I knew a lot of black kids growing up that seriously thought of sports as a potential career, not nearly as many whites.
