Since I live in China and can't make it to throwdowns in the west I thought I'd organize one myself. This is still in the earliest stages of development but I am looking at a September date and the likely location will be in Lishi (Lvliang City) in the Shanxi province of China. I'm unfamilliar with the normal throwdown rules so if someone can assist me I'd appreciate it.

Bump

Feedback please. Anyone here (other than Omar in Xi'an who I have already spoken to) in China or able to get here in September?

For a while we were blocked by the PRC's filters. Outside of Omar I'm not sure how many registered members we have there.

Not blocked now. I don't use any software to bypass the filters and I'm able to post just now. I'll start a thread looking to see who is around. :XXcompute

After looking at the rules posted under the Throwdown rules thread I think these would work fine. The only problem may be getting the right equipment. I've only seen 16 oz gloves so far. Either people will have to bring some MMA gloves with them or combat may need to be gloveless.

Those rules are kind of irrelevant now. They're more of a guide than anything.

Those rules are as relavant today as they were when they were birthed in the days of fisting :bully:

Especially the safety equiptment section. If some nut gets his teeth knocked out for not wearing a mouthguard, he can't come crying to us.

I'm just saying that they seem to jive with what I was looking for anyway. :)

By the by: my other project - starting a San Da club and slowly introducing them to the wonders of the ground game / less restrictive rules took a step forward today. I ran into one of the few PE students who speaks English today and proposed a club focusing on San Da specific training. He was all for it.

Date is not definitively set. Locals will be invited. They will be from the university as those are the locals I know.

As for Zhengzhou... it's nowhere near here. That would be simmilar to putting posters up in LA for an event in Chicago in other words it is beyond the scope of my capabilities. I'm in West-Central Shanxi. Even advertising in Taiyuan would mean treking two hours over mountain roads. My advertising is almost exclusively online right now.

There is no Shaolin Village. There is a Deng Feng and there is a Shaolin Temple but Shaolin Village no longer exists.
