Gracie Tampa is Rob Kahn's school...he was one of Royce Gracie's first blackbelts in the US. Rob was also a Golden Gloves boxer in NY I believe. I personally have enjoyed ROb's hospitality and would recommend him to anyone. If you get a chance, also chat with Aesopian, he is associated with Eduardo Delima who is an incredible BJJ instructor with schools in both Tampa and Clearwater. Eduardo is also very friendly.

I've posted this several times and please do not take my word for it and no disrespect is meant towards Rob or Eduardo's schools. The feeling I got from my one visit to each school was that Rob's teaching has more of an MMA bent/application and Eduardo's is more traditional BJJ. You would be receiving excellent instruction at both schools.

MMA bent, as more practical for the cage.

He's also a scrawny, computer nerd with long, hairy legs....wait...that's Aesopian. =P

I once tapped to an Aesopian triangle choke, not because I was about to pass out (ok, well maybe that had a little to do with it) but because his hairy ankles were tickling my neck and I was going to sneeze...so I needed my hands to cover my mouth since it is the polite thing to do.

Gringo has to reminisce about sparring just once with me a year ago since he hasn't gotten to train again since then.

No grappling...plenty of standup however. Of course no grappling is better than crappling and I like to think I may have de-programmed any bad habits by this point in time. I'm seriously planning a trip again in March...I was in Tampa last weekend like I said but I couldn't get away from meetings.

Just in case anyone gets the wrong idea, your leg hair is the chinchilla of leg hairs...so soft and warm as it puts you to sleep.

I train with Rob at Gracie Tampa. He will be moving to a new location sometime soon, which will feature a ring, a cage, a thai boxing instructor and a wrestling coach along with the usual BJJ.

Lucky!

In GA they don't allow cages in MMA schools. Some sneak em in but if they catch you they make you remove it ASAP. As was the case with Tiger Academy.
