Well I'm getting the first two I posted. One pair for me, and one for whomever I'm gonna spend the night hitting assuming they don't have a pair on them. Thanks for the comments and advice.

So you ask and we tell you one glove and you go for the others. I hate when you fuckers do this.

It's like when your wife asks, " Do I look fat in this dress?"

I'm rather fond of these, but they are a little hard for sparring.

It's like when your wife asks, " Do I look fat in this dress?"And the proper answer is "no baby, you look fat in all of them"... and then you die. I hate that fucking question.

I thought you were mocking him or something. heh. Ah well, I didn't like how those seemed to form around the hand. They looked like they would make it difficult or uncomfortable to transition from striking into grappling.

Aren't they similar to what they use in some amateur MMA?

No, amateur gloves are same amount of padding but are more condensed.

Well I gots my gloves in today. Tried them out and surprisingly the open thumb glove (without loop) has the snuggest fit of any glove I've used.

My old gloves were just century training gloves, and tore apart after extensive use.

Anyway, the open thumb ones have an extra piece of elastic material that you put your wrist through before you wrap the velcro strap around which gives considerable wrist support for fighting or padwork. The completely open design feels really natural when grappling, and since it's so snug on the wrist it's quite easy to transition from striking to grappling without the occasional slipping of the material like I had with my old gloves.

Although not as snug as the combat sports glove, this pair is definately quite a few steps up from my old gloves. Much tighter to the hand, and the stitching is double stitched in the problem areas. Three pieces of velcro as opposed to the one big piece on my old gloves really have shown me the difference to a real glove used for fighting and a training glove used for bagwork and light sparring. There's nothing more annoying than sparring and having your partner nearly pull your glove off because they accidentally caught hold of the strap. The only thing I like about these better than the sports combat gloves is the padding that covers the back of the hand. It has just as much padding there as it does covering the knuckle where the other gloves are thicker around the knuckle but just slightly cushioned on the back of the hand.

All in all I feel this has been money well spent, and I'd recommend either one of these gloves.

KenpoFist, are you training yet?

Edit: I mean are you back training, I heard you hurt yourself.

Yeah I really screwed up my shoulder and couldn't train, but now I'm slowly getting back into it while I rehabilitate my arm/shoulder. There is no longer any pain but I've lost about 50% strength in my right arm so it kinda sucks especially when all out grappling (you get a hold of my arm and it's instant armbar with no fight). I'm slowly working my way back up to all out sparring but in the mean time I'm just working stuff at about medium contact with more of a focus on drilling. Last night I went all out with some of my larger adult students just because I knew I could without fear of getting armbarred ;)

As soon as I'm feeling up to it I'll let you know, and I'll try and get that group back togethor. Talk to LI GUY if you want to see if he wants to get togethor in the meantime.

On a side note I was going to be competing in a grappling competition in Jersey at the end of the month that I won't be able to do so now....ah well I guess I'll just go, watch, and hook up with the fighter's girlfriends ringside while they're in there getting all hot and sweaty with another guy :XXhesitan

This doesn't have anything to do with BS in MA. Go back to sherdog, or post in the right forum.
