I've noticed a couple of people on here who train in Guelph. Just wondering where you train and if anyone can recommend a standup place that has regualar sparring and trains with aliveness?

Isn't that just learning to draw and cut with a sword? I'm looking for standup fighting.

Contact fighting, aliveness in training etc. I like doing kata and basics so that's ok too, but I'd like to find a place that spends a significant amount of time doing pad work, sparring etc.

I do my boxing at Backstreet Boxing studio, I don't know if you want boxing or something else, but the trainer is fantastic and the facilities are great It's actually located in Achieve fitness.

Already been through the phone book and talked to all but two of the schools listed.

So far all but two have been non-contact. It's quite amusing to talk to some of these guys. I ask if they do non-contact sparring or full contact or something in between.

The usual response is something like this:

"No, there's no contact and if there is it's very light. You don't have to worry about getting hurt"

lol
