I think it's a cute toy. Kids will be bullshido brainwashed by the ninja turtles or dragon ball anyway, so it hardly makes a difference if you give them a fun little mcdojo in a box.

Maybe I was a lot smarter than the other kids, or maybe just less ambitious, but never did I accept the ninja turtles as reality. I also (embarassingly) watched the first few seasons of dragonball z shown on cartoon network and never thought I could shoot lasers out of any part of my body.

If a kid watches a show like that and believes it to be the truth, it's also the same kid who watches the WWE and refuses to believe it's fake and thinks that the mortal kombat movies are an educational experience. They are young and gullible and will believe anything. There's often a period when you still think the world is all good times and candy and just don't know better, and that's fine.

This product on the other hand tells you it will teach you to be a black belt karate master so on, so forth. Other than a few exceptions (educational programming) cartoons and the like don't even pretend to have something to teach. This product is an adult in a fancy uniform that you associate with "OH BOY KROTTY!" who is telling you that he is teaching you karate. Your mommy and daddy have purchased it for you, so this stranger must be okay, right?

Maybe I'm overanalyzing, but I think there's a cosiderable difference between a cartoon about space robots or mutant ninjas and a man in a gi claiming to teach you "karate".
