It's second showing is about to happen......11 AM EST....

If you've already seen it discuss.

Shamrocks part was pretty cool, did a good job on helping the sport.

Plus the idea of following Franklins journey was something outside the norm of what Beyond the Glory does. I liked it.

I'd rate it third only to the Mike Tyson and Joe Frazier episodes. Those episodes were pretty cool/moving.

i haven't heard of it, is it like a UFC version of Beyond the Mat?

No.

Beyond the glory is like a deep documentary series dealing with sports figures/events.

Almost like an A&E Biography, but deeper and better.

the tyson beyond the glory was great, but that is mainly because tyson has had such a... lets say interesting life. i can't wait to see this one. they aren't showing replays here for a while though.

Well, I have no idea where you live but in America there is a replay tommorow at 4 est.

This one was pretty good actually, even shows a few of the Rorion challenge tapes he had.

And what the hell, Rich Franklin lives in a very nice house. Teachers already make very low pay, and fighters make even lower, but damn he has a nice pad.

I thought it was a good documentry. I liked the part when they were talking about the frist UFC and how the fans reacted to the grappling. I did not know that Shamrock broke the other guys leg in that fight. Ouchies. It was cool to see some of the challenge fights, also the black and white fights with them wearing the GI's was cool to see how things have changed from then and now.

The very last comments made by Joe Rogan, I do not think helped the sport much. Seemed to come across as: Watch us or your pussies and you have no life.

doesn't suprise me, joe rogan always seems to come off as a bit of an asshole.

He needs to stick to Fear Factor. He's doing more harm than good to the sport.

Why did Rogan go on a little Fight Club rant at the end?

It was nice to see some footage of the early UFCs. Also you could see Jorge Gurgel in there a lot. Most people don't know this, but Rich Franklin is a brown belt under Jorge in BJJ.

It's the Xyience. Apparently taking it while wearing a xyince t-shirt also builds up your bank account, not just your biceps.

here's a link if anybody wants to download the show.

i finally saw it. overall it was pretty good. joe rogan looked like a prick, but that is to be expected. rich franklin came off as a nice guy.

i was surprised to hear so little from the big name fighters (couture, liddell, forrest griffin). those guys are much more recognizable to average viewer.

I like how Rogan called everyone who wasn't into MMA sheep.

Uh, wasn't he into TKD when it blew up? He also jumped on the MMA bandwagon too.

I mean, so did I, but at least I admit it and am not an ass about it, lol.

I believe he badmouths his TKD background all the time. After getting into BJJ ("Rocked" by Eddie Bravo), he's been doing that. The funny thing is my brother and a friend were hanging out listening to Eddie Bravo brag about Joe Rogan's awesome side kick. He called it the "Joe Rogan Side kick", but it was just a TKD spinning back kick.

As for the show itself, I really liked it. I liked hearing Ken Shamrock's recount of the first UFC, and I think they did a great job showing how it went from the early days to the legal sanctioned organization that it is today.

Plus they showed a ton of great highlights (ones that we've all seen hundereds of times already anyway).

he jumped on the mma bandwagon because he thinks eddie bravo is god on earth.

eddie is good but he's not the best BJJ practitioner out there
