Everyone check out JKDChick's review of Bloodsport, Jean-Claude Goddamn's brilliant statement on the farcical nature of martial artists and the interplay between fantasy and myth... err nevermind...

...you were supposed to take this movie seriously.

Look for her new column in the Features-->Articles section.

Bloodsport is an excellent fighting film.

By the way, what kind of neck crank was that at the end of the film??

AND HOW COULD ANYONE NOT LIKE IT WHEN CHONG LI JUST WALKED TOWARDS HIS OPPONENT WITH HIS HANDS DOWN, KICKED HIM IN THE STOMACH ONCE AND THEN COMPLETELY CHOKED HIM OUT IN LIKE 2 SECONDS?

Well if you suspend disbelief, and temporarily forget everything you know about martial arts, then even I'll admit it's kind of entertaining.

And I've always dug Bolo. But too many factors surrounding the movie make it so that a legitimate martial artist shouldn't take it seriously. Frank Dux (fraud), JKVD (fi-fi ballerina), "Ogre" being a supporting actor, and the fact that it was a Japanese tourney set in HONG KONG... all make it out to be pretty hoakey.

Ogre ruled. He pretty much plays a Tank Abbott streetfighter character "What the hell is a Dim Mak?!"

In real life, Ray Jackson would kick Frank Dux's butt.

After I started Karate and learned what Kumite was, I was wondering what was up with it being set in Hong Kong as well.
