Some arts, notably Shou Shu Kung Fu (AKA Moore’s Karate etc) claim to be “good” against multiple attackers. I’m a natural skeptic myself.

i'm pretty confident i could handle 8 10 however many attack. it doesn't matter, just have alot of body bags ready with tags that say, "remains unviewable"! a shou shu blue belt is as good if not much better than any blackbelt in any other system. i'll bet good money u could take on at least 4 to 6 at the same time...... salute

why is it so hard for you trained martial artist to accept that in shou shu you can take on multiple oppentents(6plus or whatever) and win? you keep saying prove it, how exactly would you like us to prove to you over the web? why do you have a problem believeing that?

I’m encouraging Shou Shu’ers to demonstrate this ability in some sort of objective pressure test, perhaps at a throwdown.

Actually I'll correct myself just a little bit.Every style out there makes thses claims and demonstrates a well planed choreographed exhibition to the parents of students or at tournaments.

And thats the problem right there.Any Sifu/Sensei/Master can't create a plausible multiple fight with the lone martial artist winning out without several members of the attacking group keeping a distance.

Can I make a suggestion ? when the Shou Shu guys agree on a multiple opponent format where the claims can be tested, can the multiple attackers please be made up as Zombies just like in 'Thriller' ?

The attacker's being martial artists would hardly be a good excuse for failure, as the video would show the nature of the attack and people could judge for themselves.

Systems like this preach that crap and other **** to get the guillable.
Then they try to "prove it" with their own students tjhat aren't even TRYING to stomp a mudhole in the defender.

In all fairness, I would like to point out this post which was made in response to similar inquiries I made about SHou Shuers' opinions on multiple sparring:

I will state that the opinions of multiple opponents is based on the individual student or black belt. At no time does a Shun Shifu or Shihan or Da' Shifu tell us that we can go out and beat 10 opponents at once.

Yes, these people exsit in every system, all the more reason to expose them.

Beast_master(?)'s comments neglect Da Shifu al Moore (sr)'s claims of defeating 12 (or 15? see newspaper clip in other thread) and Acria also said include ARMED attackers in her estimations.

Are you a closet Shou Shu'er or something? (cue: witch hunt)

Just because they are not the only ones to make these claims doesn't suddenly make it acceptable.
