Why bother learning a defence to someone doing it wrong? Why not have the person do it the right way to start with?

Fair question. The answer is that principles, by definition are not technique specific ... they generalize - transfer. If the format is geared towards picture perfect technique, then the main thrust (principles) become secondary.

That's not to say "do it wrong to magnify the correct" ... it means to pay attention to the message and not focus on "we do it this way."

Funny you say "wrong" when cross training peeps found the principles being presented worked well.

EA does it right ... so you all say ... let's see what the video of 9/17 shows with regard to "right" vs. "wrong" as that will be the true test, agreed? The BEAST

Baseball and basketball mean nothing to me.

For the record, I doubt that during practice Albert Belle spent his time trying to hit the ball with a one armed swing. Your point is very weak.

No more time for you ... go play "kick the can" with your cane

I accept and even enjoy ribbing from my friends with regards to my eye sight; you are not my friend.

I was answering a technique based question. I proved my point. Fighting for real TCMA peeps is pure Art. Vidi and enjoy. The BEAST

I'm hesitant to even post in this thread as there has already been a lot of pollution, but I really just wanted to say that I wish JFS and Evil Asia a good fight. Hopefully you will both get something out of it. It is nice to see TMAists showing that stereotypes are just stereotypes, and that they are just as willing to bang as any sport-based MAists. Anyway, I look forward to the video.

Albert Belle squeezed the bat entirely too hard way before the pitcher even went into his stretch (if he was throwing out the stretch) ... he waived the bat around un-necessarily (technically, a batter should have a "quiet bat") and spent a lot of time - energy "glaring" at the pitcher as opposed to reading his movement. Check his stats.

Belle is a sociopath, he's crazy and mean.

*yawn* ... Yeah, well, thanks for sharing you gutless Witch Bitch Avatar 'Tard.

Now, how about putting some money where your mouth is? It's to be in the form of a supportive pledge for Bullshido. The BEAST

PS

Stay the Hell out of my bathroom you fookin PERV ... your eye balling my prunny ass creeps me out.

Lithium, its whats for dinner. Are you off your meds? :dink:

Whats this stupid obsession with my avatar? Who the **** is hiding? Would you rather I put a picture of myself instead? Would you like to know my name is Rudy Abel and that I've been a TCMA teacher for 20 years and that I live in Riverside California and that I'm as old school as they come?

**** You, I'm not telling........

By the look of it, one could probably play connect the dots on your prunny ass too. You are only 43? You look 60. :chewy:

I say "wrong" simply because from the pictures shown it's clear that the people attempting the takedowns don't really know what they're doing i.e. heads down, arms outstretched, leaning forward.

It maybe that what you're showing is applicable to MMA - I can't tell from the pictures - in which case, "great!" but from what I can see the takedown attempts are poorly executed.

I'm looking forward to hearing the results of this match.

Yeah, you proved that you think that fighting is akin to a game, or somehow close enough to make that comparison.

can someone just explain to me why this thread only exists?!? what the hell is wrong with criticizing a style\concept\idea? This is a discussion board it is normal for people give out opposite opinions. even if this is a MA board ppl are not forced to test every MA to see if they are good or not. If I say hung gar is teh suxor!!1!one! and that I don't wan't to ear about others thought well it's my own damn problem.
JFS if your are a good fighter and that you know it why go and try to argue with ppl who don't wan't to hear about it? Just get over it and go on.

P.S.:By the way hung gar is not the worst in the world of MA, were not talking about _ing_ung here...

Greenhornet, you seem to be arguing at opposites. Why does the thread exist if not to argue so stop arguing about it kind of logic woohoo..

BTW: FSD (or whatever mongrel style Greenhornet does) is teh r33l suxor1!!!

The only thing that bothers me about it is this betting on the fighters and donating to bullshido **** wtf is that all about? Someone may get hurt out of this have a little respect this is not a pro fight and these guys may very well square off it's a grudge match at this point and there not getting paid. Asia at least is Army so if something happens to him he'll be treated but JFS better have a good story if he's hurt because i just got soaked for my last fight to the tune of $1250+ dollars because blue cross is denying my claim now.

Mods and posters alike are always discussing the "stand up striking game" or grappling and groundwork as a game to be improved, so I dont get your point. Game theory applies to fighting, no brainer. Seems like another one of the bullshido kiddy gang trying to put the boot in from the side lines.

If i was JFS id be posting less and getting ready because ASIA has a legit groundgame **** from what ive seen id want a guy working on my cardio as well( i dont even know his standup) and also I have an idea what he may go for(not scouting for anyone) but the guys no joke. I can only hope JFS is ready because asia doesnt talk out of his ass. Honestly JFS id want a few months to get ready(at least) do what you want and of course i have respect just realize this guys going to give you all you can handle and then some. I hope your prepared because he will be.

Maybe you should take some time and get ready, there's no shame in postponing a fight believe me i for one wouldnt look down on you, all im saying is when was the last time you puked in a gym?

Respect to JFS USA if he gets in the ring with Asia and looks competant.

Actually, after checking out the links and seeing who he is, I expect him to at least look competent. Heck, he might even be able to take him. I'd still give the odds to Asia but even Asia will tell you "on any given Sunday..."

I really can't tell and I think "the Beast's" rhetoric is comical but then again...so is Asia's.

This comment though:

Got no idea what any of that means. I'm a Master of H'ung Ga and Master is as "high" as it goes. No need or interest in "belts" or any of that stuff.

...is just plain retarded. Just cuz proclaiming yourself a master is as goofy as it gets. It's kind of a nonesense statement really so maybe it was just kind of worded for the audience. No need or interest in "belts" is good since there are none for Hung Gar.

P.S.:By the way hung gar is not the worst in the world of MA, were not talking about _ing_ung here...

No. Not "the worst". In fact, it's right up there in my mind as one of the best. Throw in that he's in NY Chinatown and on one of those Suey Sing type things and I'd say looks pretty damn legit. I don't know for a fact, but my a-priori assumption is that NY Chinatown is somewhat similar to the San Francisco Chinatown that I learned my own Hung Gar in.

Unfortunately I have no fucking clue what this is all about as I took about a 2 month vacation from Bullshido this summer so I don't have the back story. It also kind of sucks because I can't really root for anyone more than the other. I spent 8 years in Hung Gar and about 4 years so far now here in China training Baji. So this fight would be awsome for me to watch. My two favorite styles!

I noticed the "Lion's Roar" thing on the linked site too. That's another very respectable style with a pretty good track record of producing fighters. I also seem to remember a post somehwere about the age...something along the lines of "hanging with the youngin's..." lol. My experience has been that the toughest bastards I have met anywhere in the martial arts world at all have been mostly in their 40's. In fact, for something like Hung Gar or most southern styles, I'd say that people actually tend to peak in their late 40's or occasionally somewhere even in their 50's. I mean just in terms of fighting ability. Obviously pure skill can continue to increase but somewhere around that age the loss in athleticism takes it's toll.

In any case, I only give the odds to Asia because I know more about him and I think his atheleticism gives him a big advantage. This Jeff guy....hard to say.
