I'm curious about this - why do you think that particular set of techniques were chosen?
Do you think it was intended as a slimmed down easy to learn style for beginners? Or a grouping of close range techniques intended as an easy reference practice set for advanced practitioners of other martial arts?

I dont check this site for a bit then JFS has moved over here. Hi John/Jack sorry I could not make your seminar but my wedding was the following weekend and my stag do on the Friday and Saturday night so I was in no fit state to train. I was on a 2 week ban from training from wife to be and family to ensure no plaster casts in the wedding pics.

Was there any video footage from it as the pics dont seem to give much away. Asia I know little about and I know a bit about JFS.

JFS does actually talk sence on technical issues but I know his manner is a bit blunt often like mine.

I think this will be a good fight if it happens, sadly, I am in the UK so will have to check video footage if there is any.

That's not what I stated. I said, to me, WC plays very much like small frame H'ung Gar. There are many structures that share common bio-mechanical traits.

Personally, I think WC is a great TCMA system to start out in. It's hysterically funny to read all the "it's the man and not the style" posts followed by "WC sucks." It's pared down, clean, and uncluttered with a lot of repetitive Sets.

IMO, either of the ways you note above would constitute a "good" use of WC. A bit like SPM in that regard ... might as well toss Bak Mei into this particular mix.

I've found it interesting to uncover some common "root" systems in the background of many TCMA Masters - Sifu. Kind of shoots holes all through the "purist" argument.

JFS USA is also an open and approachable individual who is always willing to help those less advanced in martial knowledge than himself.

One example of his generosity is the UK Phalanx Pankration association he is associated with. This organisation is helping bring TMA and MMA back together. It is run by the seminal Master Steven Richards and includes as an instructor none other than Haydn Sutton, aka Kickcatcher from this site.

If Kickcatcher sees the true value of traditional drills, forms and training, shouldn't we all?
