Forget picking on somebody his own size. Skip Hall's greatest challenge is finding someone his own age to fight.

"A lot of guys don't want to fight me," said Hall, a 60-year-old professional mixed martial arts fighter from Columbiana. More than one younger would-be opponent has said fighting a senior citizen isn't good for his career.

"I'm too old. I don't even have a career," the 5-foot-8, 205-pound Hall quipped. "I just fight because I still enjoy it."

****. And I've been worrying whether or not I'm too old to start training for amateur local tournaments at 30..

I just got a mental image of popeye for some reason. We should figure out if that guy has the internet.

He is fighting tonight at Undisputed Production's event Atlanta's Friday Night Fights. He will be fighting Tony Ross, 44 years old, from Indianapolis, IN. Skip looks very muscular for his age and one wonders how he fights atrophy :P.

One of our purple belts is also fighting tonight, so I am biased to think this is a good event. Unfortuantely it sold out, except for the expensive seats, too soon for me to be able to go.

As it stands now, no, though IIRC some of the Velocity guys used to train under Jacare. In particular I would like to see the Headden v. Sutton fight, but family duties will prevent me from going.

geesh...3 losses in a row, two by TKO...it's great that he works out and all, and keeps at his training, but this seems like a good way to get killed doing a younger man's game

I remember a MMA event in Sioux City a couple years back - they had a couple 50+ y.o. with a long-standing grudge lined up to compete. Never did hear how that worked out.

I don't think they were trained or anything, they just wanted to beat on each other.

i weouldnt fight him. talk about a lose/lose situation, you either beat up an old guy which isnt much of an accomplishement or you get your **** ruined by someones grandad which would be fucking embarassing

no, you have a win win situation available - Just don't punch him at all.
Just submit him, that is, if your good enough to tdo that to a sixty year old ;)

I would just treat it like I would wrestling a girl in high school. Go out and be completely merciless. No quarter whatsoever. Absolutely destroy them, so that there was never a doubt in anyone's mind.

Yeah, you walk away a jerk, but at least you weren't the jerk that was "almost" beaten up by a girl/old guy.
