Hmmm, aside form the horrible cammies, that last picture is pretty good. The BG is obviously not in a position to fight back, and his lung and heart are open for a knife thrust through the ribs.
What was your problem with it, aside from your obvious lack of expertise?
That's still a horrible armbar, and it'd be easy to get out of it.
At first I didn't see it was a knife technique.
The position is terrible as far as base in that picture but great base is not needed to stab someone in the ribs. The interesting part would be the approach to that position and the soundness of the technique that was used.
I have found that the majority of techniques are unneccesarily complicated and the basics are unsound because many teachers are trying to emulate what is being taught by Hatsumi. I would think that the technique being demonstrated is teaching how to grapple to gain control to utilize a knife. Adding another variable into a fight like a knife only makes the situation more difficult.
If most BJKers can't grapple that well, how do they expect to be able to grapple well with a weapon in their hand???????
I'm guessing he took him down with that standing armbar the man in the background is using (musha dori?) then stepped over for a pin. While he can afford to use less than optimal technqiue due to the knife, it isn't uncommon to see the bujinkan demonstrate these types of pins and lockouts without weapons. I wonder how well they work on somone who knows how to ebi/hip escape? In my case, I've never used a single one of the bujinkan's numerous ground submissions.
Oh, and you're wrong Muagtil. I have extensive expertise in Bujinkan LARPing.

It's not an armbar.

How he managed to get there would be nice to see. You made a point that a lot of people seem to forget when posting pics to poke fun at. It is one moment in time. You can't accurately see what was really happening. Was it being posed? Was it someone who has never done the technique before? Was it an idiot?

The person in the background looks to be doing a certain technique, the name escapes me. It's not an armbar, it a shoulder lock which resembles O-Gyaku. I won't go into the specifics of it here, it's pointless.
BTW, I know what your "experince" is, doesn't mean you know anything still. There are plenty of people that make it through 4 years of college and are still dumb as a fucking brick.

Actually, I have no idea what kata they were running through (if they were running through a specific kata) but judging by the way the guy in the camo is holding that knife and the shape of the uke's hand, it looks like this was some sort of knife defence drill in which Mr Camo has taken the knife away after submission....
Just my guess,
Don't know if what he did was any good or how or why he did it, but just my observation.

Funny you say that, our operations manager, David Hoffman, here at work was telling me that when he was brown belt in Kyokushinkai, he attended a full contact tournament and sparred quite a number of black belts and first dans and kicked 12 colours of **** out of them. He found that some guys had only been training for half the time he had while others had been training for longer. Nevertheless they were all from the same style. I suppose it depends on the teacher...not the art sometimes.
Anymore lip from you Mugatil and I'll post these pics:

I have plenty more lip. :) BTW, most of those pics are just red x's for me. The ones that came through, 1, 7 and 9, are typical. I can find comparable pics from any other art. Finding "bad" pics is easy. I've done it before, I can do it again.
Please find comparible pics from arts we like to nutride.
