Cool.... so... Will I find tan naked blonde women on the beaches alot, occasionally, or never?

Why the **** would you want a blonde bimbo, when you could have a Raven haired, exotic local beauty ?

LOL Classic..BTW Dude on a serious note, you should look a bit more into Budo Ninpo Taijutsu, before jumping on the bashing bandwagon. Despite what a lot of people say, we don't run around throwing blinding power and Caltrops at people !

That **** gets blown way out of proportion, and it's reserved for Soke Hatsumi's demonstrations. I'm not a BJK nut-rider, I cross train in two other styles, and I wouldn't stick with the BJK unless I thought it had alot of merit to it's practice.

I have had experiance with the bujinkan. i even went to a Taikai? with my buddy the ninja. Thee i met a man named Glen morris. he gave a talk to a group about building ki from standing masturbation. Kindof wierd.

The weapons stuff was cool, not modernly practical but cool. The rope stuff was Ok. manaka? something or other was impressive but most of the stuff was done on non-resistive people.

Over all, there were some good things and a ton. (ton) of nerds trying to be ninjas. abd what the **** is up this the bisento? Are you happy to see me or is that a bisento in your pocket?

Did you know Glen Morris died recently from a stroke ? R.I.P He was more of a high ranking enthusiast, and not a fighter.

Manaka, is actually the head of the Jinekan X-kan now, since he left the Bujinkan.

He's a Captain in the Japanese military. Did you know that he was awarded an honorary green beret from the US Special forces, after he took on three of them at the same time and won ?

Manaka sensei is a def fucking crazy fighter.

As far as Glen Morris goes, his books are a little "out there" and I hear he is the same in person. Seems like a cool guy, but he was more interested in esoterical practices like yoga and kundalini awakening then actualy physical techniques... at least thats wut he said in one of his books. I'm sure you saw a lot of it at the seminar, and the "building up sexual energy" bit isnt too far off the mark now is it? Try not fucking for a few weeks and see how insane u get.

Speaking of, sorry Kikaku, I'm not down with the brown... or yellow for that matter. Not saying I wouldnt do them, but I def prefer blondes.

"Hornier than a three-peckered Owl" is how he reffers to himself in his book "Path notes".

Who said anything about teaching bullshit?

Limited time to train, the methods used, and the art makes attaining competence in everything almost impossible.

The best means is to find what you personally want to fight like (ie Grappling, Striking, weapons, etc) and find the mixture that suits your personal preference.

The BJK could work, but it needs pressure testing, sparring, and giving guys like Ben Cole and Dale a nice healthy glass of shut the **** up.

I don't endorse Judo only as a pure self defense art, but it is a really good base. Just as other sport arts are.

I don't endorse the standard BJK methods because of the impotent mentality. There, generally, is no basis to build skills off of.

For example, if a Judoka has to fight a boxer, he won't out punch him. If he can get his hands on him, he has a set of skills that are reliable and have been pressure tested to the point of being a natural skill set.

For standard BJK practicioner, the skills at every range is mediocre. Can punch, kick, clinch, throw but all of it is not refined until it is that natural core skill. That is acceptable to fight an unskilled person, but it will go to **** once it is tested against anyone with strong skills in any of those areas.

Generally, I believe you make some really good points.
Coming from a physical science perspective, in which I teach individuals scientific methods of recovery and performance enhancment I believe that both general and specific methods *could* work, for creating a functional set of core skills to draw from.
I do not agree that no specilization gives no reliable core skills.
Probably less reliable core skills then a specilization, but at a very broad range. A broad range of skills taught in the *right* environment with enough repitition, and correct mental attitude is a good way to gain a broad range of good functional ability.
This has been stated by others here.
I believe the key point to Mongos post is the enviornment in which skills are learned/trained.
Usually when learning a skill you want to train it in the envronment in which it will be used. If this is not realistic, then you should get as close to the situation in which you are training, to be able to use the skills in that given enviornment. This is the sparring debate, obviously. I do not believe that NHB sparring is the only way to test if skills are reliable and can be produced at high speeds, under pressure. It may be the best way .....but not the only way. It is also the way in which it is easiest to injure yourself, and from my perspective this is somewhat counter productive when you are training to protect your body. My opinion.

One of the issue in the BJK I believe is that the slow uke tori forms take so long to get good at due to the huge variety of skills and abilities being taught, groups sometimes never progress beyond this training, and even see it as the pinnacle of training. The problem with moving forward from here is that many people dont know how. And there are so many distracting training topics and intellectual/abstract concepts to keep you in this style of training for a lifetime. I do not believe it is Hatsumis problem to teach training drills and dynamic methods of skill development. He is interested in transmitting traditional skills, and exploring the possibilities of using these skills in a way he sees fit to do it. My opinion. Individuals who want or claim functional ability are responsible for making it work, and teaching it .

I am happy to see openmindedness to alternative methods of skill building being introduced in many Bujinkan dojos. I hope the trend continues. The problem is that many have I believe, is that we enjoy the broad range of skills the BJK gives us, but many of the instructors are not familiar with training methods that differ from the standard jujutsu uke tori forms. Personally I am encouraged by seeing more people interested in different methods of skill and attribute development and hope it raises the standards for BJK functional performance.

My opinion. OK, now you can pick my statements apart and throw the insults my way :violent1:

Don't know where lot of the ideas about budo taijutsu come from. . . Can't take a hit? My experience with Budo Taijutsu: I get the crap beaten out of me four to five nights a week, including hits to the face. Bruises are the norm, and that's been the case in every Bujinkan dojo I've seen. I get hit in the throat and the side of the neck way too much for comfort. No, I'm not a blackbelt yet, but have been studying for a while.

All the joint locks are great in case there's a blatant opening, or it's your drunk-ass brother in law, but none of the people I train with would waste time with locks on an opponent who is dangerous. Strikes and kicks are simply a whole lot faster and more efficient for most of us. Not that strikes and kicks won't open up locks, breaks, and chokes. . .

We do train full speed once the control is there-- especially in knife techniques where slow is dead. Defense is at full speed almost from day one, just not when you're learning a technique. You won't go to a seminar and see people taking things at full speed.

Yeah, I've sparred with people in other styles, and have studied other styles myself. It's useful, but I don't know how you train to make eye jabs and neck strikes completely automatic, then step into the ring and think you're not going to use them. (Yep -- jabbed a sparring partner in the eye, lightly, thank God. Fortunately he was of the "how'd you do that?!" variety. The whole thing embarrassed the hell out of me.)

Beyond that, I'm just not interested in fighting in the ring. Too old, too slow, nothing to prove, etc., etc. I'd get my clock cleaned in the ring, and might get it cleaned on the street if I went up against the right person. . . Fortunately, people with years of training generally don't hang out mugging people at the ATM machine.

In all of this, notice that I'm not dissing other styles. Not because I don't think you're all mental, but rather because I don't want a six year supply of hate mail. . . (LOL)

BTW, loved the teenage ninja thread. Still cracking up.
