Since neither one of these guys have ever posted on Bullshido, I'm not sure whether they will either read this or respond to it. Either way, because I like to keep things out in the open, I'm airing this here for all to comment on...

I received a number of PMs from Rambo, threatening physical violence, allegedly in response to insults I'd made toward his Wing Chun teacher. This struck me as odd, most especially because I haven't been active on Bullshido (or any other BBS) in quite some time. The only real activity that I recall has been during the coordination of the last Washington Throwdown.

I responded to Rambo, asking him what teacher I'd insulted (I'm interested in this, because I can't recall any WC teachers I dislike enough to negatively reference in a post, much less openly insult - that isn't how I operate), and when. He said that it was too much work for him to provide a cite on what I'd allegedly done, but rest assured he "knew (my) address" and that I shouldn't be surprised if he showed up on my doorstep...

Whatever.

So today I see another PM from Cris9880 who claims to be a friend of Rambo's that lives in my area. He said quite a bit of the same line, that he'd be happy to beat me to a bloody pulp and boy howdy he sure could do it. He also told me to have fun trying to hide, because I'd turned down Rambo's challenge and he didn't think I'd back up my "big mouth."

Whatever again.

I responded by telling him that I had neither accepted nor declined Rambo's challenge, that I didn't recall insulting anyone (but would appreciate a reference), and that if he and Rambo were friends, then they could certainly share my address and Cris could come visit so we could discuss his issues.

I'm asking anyone that cares enough to read this to clarify for me whether anyone has a recollection of my having insulted a Wing Chun teacher of some kind. I don't recall, but my memory isn't what it used to be...

Rambo, Cris, if you read this, since I won't be back home until mid-April, you have plenty of time to dig up whatever insult you claim I made and back up your allegations. I'll be nice and give you the time to do this while I decide whether to consider legal actions for the threats you've sent me...

Well, I've informed Cris of this thread, and I'm sure he's capable of inviting Rambo to chime in as well.

I look forward to hearing whatever comments they have on the issue, but I'm not holding my breath waiting. I suspect the "you insulted my teacher" allegation is just a hollow attempt at justifying someone wanting to call me out.

I did a search of Bullshido, and the only reference to Wing Chun I can recall making was in a thread over a year ago dealing with an instructor that was claiming to teach WC to the Marines... I chimed in saying that perhaps he had Marine students, but that the statement that was made implied he was the one and only teacher of the USMC. The situation was rectified, and the only person that had issues with it at the time said no offense was taken by my remarks.

So, I'd be curious to know what particular evidence Rambo and Cris have beyond just wanting to take me to the mat. I'm neither accepting nor declining their challenge; I'm subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice, and it prohibits dueling. My career isn't worth some stranger's desire to scrap.

They, and anyone, are welcome to come to our school and discuss whatever issues they have. If violence breaks out, instigated by a given party, then that party bears the burden of whatever legal repurcussions result.

Until then, I'm going back to not worrying about this whole thing...

I'm outspoken. I know that. But I don't name names, I don't name drop, and I do whatever I can to speak to issues instead of people. I've been watching what I say and how I say it the entire time I've been active on message boards, and the times I've been out of line I've admitted it. However, I only admit wrongdoing if someone can provide evidence of such... These fellas haven't met that requirement yet.

If I was out of line in a comment I'd made, and they showed me the comment and how I was wrong, I'd be happy to apologize. This particular situation, though, is just way too random.

The interesting thing is that I was told that the folks in question "knew where (I) live," and that maybe they'd just show up on my doorstep...

Apparently they don't know where I live, since I suspect they'd have some small amount of trouble gaining access to a secure military reservation...

I appreciate the offer, but... Let's hope this doesn't escalate to that degree. Right now I'm considering it an empty threat and I'm not concerning myself with it from a serious standpoint.

Two days, 250+ views (as of just about 10 seconds ago), at least one of which was by one of the parties concerned, and still no response.

I think that speaks volumes...

Maybe they are just waiting to ambush me at a later date. Whatever. If I'm at the school when they show up, fine. We can discuss their issues then. If I'm not at the school, it's because I have better things to do than wait around indefinitely for someone who may or may not really exist to appear magically to avenge their teacher's honor...

Nah... Then they won't have any mode by which to contact me in order to avenge themselves for the slights they feel they've endured.

Further, neither one of them have ever posted that I'm aware of, and unless you are aware of their having threatened others, their only activity has been to communicate their hollow and juvenile threats... Take away their PM ability and you've pretty much shut them down. Neither one of them seem interested in making their opinions public, justifying their actions, or attempting to explain the alleged slight their teacher has suffered. But if they are banned, then we'll never know, will we?

I'd say let it ride... I'm all for giving folks plenty of rope, y'know? If they communicate another threat, though, I might have to contact the authorities and let them handle the tracking down of whoever it is behind this scheme.
