Kind of like one of those Soviet era gulags. You stayed until death do you part.

I don't mean to be morbid, but what would happen if one of the COL people were to die? Are they one big happy family, and would they be responsible for disposition of the body in a decent manner, or would thay contact a relative?

Is any satirical artwork appropriate or is that an unwanted legal risk?

I think that during the time immediately after the Inside Edition brouhaha, the companies under Tae Yun Kim did make some changes regarding the salaries of the COL people who worked for her companies. They had hired an image consultant and I'm pretty sure that they did make an effort to cover themselves in case any government agency suddenly showed an interest into the way they ran their businesses.

By the time I came to the US in 2002 for training and in the subsequent years, I know that things had gotten back to "normal" (COL Standards). Although the regular employees did get paid salaries, there were some cases, like mine for example, that were treated differently. I had a contract that was signed, sealed and delivered , yet when I got here in July 2003 until April of the next year, I wasn't paid a salary and was just given $20 a day and was made to stay at the corporate apartment. Everytime I asked, I was told that things were being processed, the company was in financial straits, etc, etc. At one point, I asked JW if I would be given backpay when things got better and he said "yes, the company owes you that money" He denies it now of course, but there it is. By April 04, they started to pay me only after I told them that I had to file a tax return and did not know what I would put there, Yet I still did not get the amount promised in my contract. I am currently working on getting this issue resolved but I have to say that the wheels of justice does revolve verrrry slowwllly.

As for the COL people, A VP making $14,000 a year is definitely questionable. I got this number from one of the VPs last year. She told me that this was the most she had earned in this company and was just adjusted that year. She used to make less even though she did a lot of work and traveling for the company. During the move from Milpitas to San Jose, I also came across some documents belonging to PN under his real name. It showed that he was collecting unemployment benefits yet he had been working with the team in the Philippines and with me since 2000, during the period of time that he claimed to have been unemployed. Then there were the reimbursements submitted for non existent items or outings, the requested per diems for non existent trips, and so on and so forth.

So, NO, they do not do things legitimately. They do things for their convenience and to their advantage. Based on what I have seen and heard, it seems that they do as they see fit at that time and when they suddenly find themselves questioned, they cover their asses in any way possible. Its a wonder that they have been able to exist in business for so long with this kind of MO but here they are, going strong since 1982....it's gotta be all that Ki Master business she's got going on..she clouds the mind so they see nothing of the evil that lurks in the hearts of men.

Rossanna,
You are the one that should write a book, you write with such eloquence.

Everytime you write, I feel like carrying the flag to LWS and sending Kyong-Ae back to where she came from and her profession, that is all she is good for, although at her age, she is not even good for that.

JW was the one that screwed up my insurance also, I wonder if there is a time limit on that kind of stuff. I don't believe we ever got reimbursed for the insurance we paid for and did not have insurance.

If PN was collecting unemployment while working for LWS , then there should be several non-COL members that could testify that he truly was working at LWS during this time. If PN did something like that, I am sure there were several others.

Shouldn't the IRS know about this? ?

Is any satirical artwork appropriate or is that an unwanted legal risk?

satirical artwork is purportedly protected by the first amendment as a form of free speech and expression though I believe that there have been some cases wherein some of those featured successfully sued the artist or the publication for libel, emotional distress and even copyright infringement.

There is also a lesser-known intellectual property right which is the right of publicity. This allows a person to control the exploitation of his or her name, likeness, or image, for publicity and profit.

As Chica said, it may be best to consult a lawyer on the parameters of what one can or cannot do in this format before getting into it.

If you do decide to go ahead with it, please share. I'm sure everyone would love to see what you come up with. :icon_rr:

Of course the IRS should know about it!!!

The California Department of Employment Security, or whatever it's called, are the first ones that should be notified. It's their money being shelled out, and if what you are stating is true, then it's outright fraud, and a felony, big time.

The IRS would only be involved if the tax return is fraudulent., by virtue of not showing either the income earned or the unemployment payments.

This is an interesting question. Thankfully no one in COL has died yet. If someone were to die, their outside family members would most likely be contacted. Most people in COL do at least keep some sort of contact with their family members.

I am not sure if people in COL have written out a will. I am sure some have, as TYK has talked about death a lot in the last few years.

I am willing to bet that most people in COL would just turn themselves over to TYK if they were to die and let her decide what to do for their funerals or memorial services. They would probably let her inherit everything, too. (Although I am sure some people would also think of their family members)

TYK talks about being cremated, rather buried. Therefore I assume most will want to be cremated and have TYK sprinkle their ashes. Some people in COL are organ donors, as I have seen it on their licences.

I am also willing to bet that there may be disputes between TYK and family members for some members if they were to pass away. Some family members don't approve of her.

When TYK has an issue with a specific student, she often talks about that issue in general in a COL class. For example, around the time she conned BB out of her inheritance, there were several COL classes about how parents used inheritances to control their children and how the best thing to do with an inheritance was to give it to charity.

At one point TYK, seemingly out of the blue, started talking about how when a Native American knew he was about to die, he went off into the wilderness to do it so the living wouldn't be left with "bad energy." There might have been a student with a life-threatening illness at that time--I don't know. But the message seemed clear to me: TYK most likely wouldn't want to be burdened with a student's death.

Any death of a student would be embarassing for TYK. No one is old enough to die of old age yet. A car accident might indicate that her students are too sleepy or reckless. An illness might indicate that her healing powers aren't as advertised. A violent death could cause a scandal. I think that due to self-interest TYK doesn't want her students to die, as long as someone else pays the medical bills.

So from what I understand, the evil one wants everyone to give her their inheritance. What is she...a charity case, all her plastic surgeries are charities?

So, if an Indian left his tribe to die so there is no bad energy left for the living, what is she doing spewing bad energy to the living now? My opinion, that is all she is, bad energy and attaches herself like a parasite to the living and sucks out the will of people.

Maybe we should create a website exposing all the people that are kicked out of martial arts schools. This would help all martial art instructors in the future, to make sure they get higher quality students.

I know this is old news, but I'm still catching up, and I couldn't stop thinking about it. I find this to be the most revealing thing "CharlieC" said. I have a few points in response.

1. Legitimate schools, churches, gyms, businesses, and clubs don't organize smear campaigns against ex-members who are asked to leave or fired, let alone those who leave on their own.

2. Legitimate schools, churches, gyms, businesses, and clubs that are badmouthed by disgruntled former members can usually disprove false accusations easily.

3. Cults are well-known for their smear campaigns and threats against former members.

4. I have read most of the posts on this forum (up to page 225), and so far EVERY question of and accusation against a former member has been answered, while NOT ONE question and accusation against TYK has been answered.

By the way, I'm not out of shape, jealous, of vengeful. I am angry though.

Bibby, I am interested in talking to you regarding the publicity you seek. Trust me it isn't because efforts haven't been made. Maybe it'll take someone unbiased like yourself to help set the fire.

No, it's not going to stop her. I don't know what style she teaches, probably something called Jung Su Do I would guess.

The martial arts is just a lure to get people involved in something much more sinister.
