Fouls:
- Small joint manipulation.
- Spiking an opponent to the canvas on his head or neck.
Just a few questions about UFC rules. What exactly does small joint manipulation include? I assume wrist, finger, ankle locks etc. Does this include hitting the joints as well? The rule seems a little vague.
Also, would the rule "Spiking an opponent to the canvas on his head or neck" eliminate koshi nage's, and other such throws? It's quite easy for someone to land on their head or shoulder if they don't know how to breakfall properly.
I didn't see anything about palm strikes. Are they legal?

Small joint means fingers and toes. Wristlocks and ankle locks are perfectly legal. The throwing on the head means a deliberate attempt to spike someone straight down like a pile driver. And joint strikes are legal, they are just not that effective. Palm strikes are also legal last I knew.

Why would palm strikes be illegal?

No they're not legal. If they were, then we would see a lot of death and massive internal damage from Iron Palm Masters like Jim Lacy and Brian Gray. The rules are there to protect the fighters. If they allowed iron palms, they may as well allow the right cross or roundhouse kicking to the head. Those are leathal techniques as well and should be left out of the octagon.
I think it's best that we stick to lay and pray, and submissions. safer that way.

are pressure point strikes and grabs allowed if they arent to fingers or toes?

Yes, they just suck.
Why are kicks to the kidney from guard not allowed?

Because there is a very good chance of doing lasting damage to the kidneys.
Yes pressure points are legal. Man that question just cracks me up. TMA guys constantly thinking they are not legal because they are never used. They are not used because they do not work.
The same reason you can't hit to the Kidney's in every combat sport?

The same could be said for the head.

I don't think there is a rule that disallows Dim Mak, Hamemamehah and No-Touch KO's either.

Do you have a bone shell around your kidneys? Because you do have a skull. The kidneys are particularly vunlerable because of their placement within the body. Besides why are you arguing this with me? Did I make the rule?

For all I know, you might have.
I only ask because I see people like Royce using it in the early UFC's and it seems like a fun thing to do.
Hell, Haymakers tend to cause the brain to shut down momentarily so they should be banned immeadiately!

Kidney kicks are not something that particular hurts alot at the moment, but rather are something that catches up to you. On top of that, they never really factored decisively into who won/lost that match but are just something of an annoyance and way to push the guy on top of you into the fight.
So, ultimately their small role in a fight didnt outweigh the fact that they can serious damage your kidneys, which is no small deal.

I disagree with the no strikes to the backside of an opponent. Also with the no downward elbow strikes. It really makes it hard to punish grapplers who blow takedowns. All they need to do is tuck up and cover their front and get out quick. This is a big reason why strikers don't do as well anymore as they did in the early UFC's. Also takes away some of the realism factor.

Huh?!?? I was almost with you up to there.
Seriously, what are you talking about? Who are these strikers?
