Does anyone know any good websites where I can buy or get some good old style propaganda war art? Particlularly that from the Cold War Era (ie. People's Republic of China, North Korea, USSR) or stuff from the USA?
I'm not interested in the offensive stuff (ie. Japanese depicted as goblins, etc), but art that's more patriotic in nature.
Stuff like this:
I bought this one last night
Check this out:

You didn't specify if you were just looking for posters, but this is a DVD of short propaganda cartoons that Disney made during WWII. My dad got it and I watched a few. Those were definetly different times.
Why limit propganda war art to just WW2???? Theres some interesting stuff from WW1 as well.
The thing I find amusing besides Japanese being depicted as Goblins is how each side of a conflict tries to demonize each other but at the same time make themselves look like "Noble Christian soldiers fighting for God" etc. You get alot of that.

The "Snafuperman" cartoons are pretty good too.
I heard about that. They had some pretty neat propaganda cartoons. Like Captain America etc.
There was one that I really liked with Donald Duck. He had a nightmare about what it would be like to live in Nazi Germany. It was very funny.

Actually, I kinda like some of the Communist propaganda art out there, especially the stuff from the USSR and China.
Here's one from North Korea.
Here's another Russkie poster
I have a problem with the Iwo Jima picture being labelled propaganda. That was an actual event, sure it spurs patriotic feelings, but it is not in the same category as the others.
I guess the difference is the other pictures are idealistic potraits of how the Government/citizenry would like to be viewed apart from reality, and the Marines at Iwo was reality.
JMHO.
If it said something like "Come join the Team" or something to help the observer identify with the image, then yes I would agree, but it really doesn't.
I do not want it to seem like I am making mountains out of mole hills, but I just do not see it in the "propaganda" category, patriotism, sure, propaganda no.
JMO, your mileage may vary.
I remeber seeing a poster from the russian revolution. It was a picture of a pointy red triangle on a white background and said underneith "Help the people's triangle defeat the white imperials."
You just dont get propaganda like that anymore *sigh*.
How about this:
