Personally, I go by what sounds coolest.

Here are just a few of cluster fucks I can think of:
guard = scissors
mount = saddle
side mount = side control = across-side
omoplata = shoulder coil = shoulder lock
rear naked choke = mata leao = sleeper holdI have yet to see anything beat...
udi garami = kimura = key lock = chicken wing = hammer lock = americana = double wrist lockI hardly even attempted finding out the Japanese terms, since I'm lazy.

The most pressing question from all of this is why does catch use such dumb names?

Some people call this a suplex. Lazy roundeyes mostly.

The correct terminology is the "double kimura inverted reverse ura nage." I suggest you all start refering to this technique as such.

I invented a counter to the omoplata which I have named the romoplata. I've already worked out a reverse romoplata.
