We did it every day in wrestling and I still do it today when grappling. In fact, I did it this morning to turn my opponent so I could take his back. It has nothing to do with being a dirty un-respectful move. It is a very valid technique that can be used both offensively and defensivly. I won't arbitrarily do it just to inflict pain but I do it when it's required. If people can't hang with this type of training then they should do Tai Chi or some ****.

For the only reason I would ever train, for fun. If I'm not having fun, it's not worth doing, and crossfaces aren't any fun. Another reason would be exercise.

Yrkoon is right...some things are just not necessary while training, unless you are training for competition or "the street" and your sparring partner knows that.

WTF? :eusa_eh:

Red- Did you guys use the same definition of crossfacing as we did? The only crossfacing to me is striking me with the palm/forearm The rest is just grappling. I don't whine about it either if it happens, I get even and make them submit screaming.

Different philosophies then. No big deal. The guys I roll with are there to learn to fight and are tough enough to give and take pain. I'm not into being nice and happy hugging and that is my philosophy as well as the people I train with. Noobs either buck up and take it or move on down the street to the other 1,000 MA dojos in my area.

I don't neccesarily "strike" with it if thats what you mean. Although I would in competition or in a real fight. What I do though is still painful.

I'd cross-face to get the choke if I could even remember what backmount feels like at this point. I used to get that position all the time when I was training Judo and it's one of the many fun things that are banned.

Why even PRACTICE cross facing when you could just jam your fingers into his eyes from behind? Isnt that more "street effective"?

****, why stop there? You can bite off their ear like Tyson while grabbing their adams apple with one hand and poking their eyes with the other. That's what the RBSD do isn't it? Oh, wait... they don't use Th3 Gr4ppl3. Nevermind!

Thats what I'm talking about!

**** it if you want to delude yourself you're training for "the street" you may as well start biting and ripping nutsacs off.

Those things cause permenant damage though. Crossfacing does not... it just causes pain.

Now if you're a one-trick-crossfacing-pony in the dojo, yeah, you're a dickhead. But it's not a big deal to actually feel pain when you're rolling. It lets you know you've fucked up.

I think crossfacing is hilarious. I do it every single time I have the opportunity to do so. It's, like, a goal in and of itself. :laughing9

I'm not REALLY suggesting to rip anyones nuts off or anything, I was only kidding. Just want to make that clear before someone comes on here and blames me for them castrating their training partners.

Crossfacing shouldnt be a big deal. Its done all the time in wrestling. If you can armbar someone safely you can crossface someone safely. The only time its gets bad is when you have 2 mach cro-mags and one gets crossfaced and the other doesnt want to give in so the aggressor keeps applying more and more pressure and then the tempers flare up.

Hell even in COMPETITON you can submit someone by placing the radius bone of your forearm under a guys nose and clasping your hands and squeezing away.
