Some of the opinions on here for kidneys and such are plain silly. I have been supplementing for 15 years now and no problems. Here is what I take.

Liver Tabs (high aminos and B vitamins)
BCAA's( branch chained amino acids)
Creatine 5 grams a day
Glutamine 20 grams a day
ZMA at bed time.
Egg protein shake twice a day
whey protein post workout.

Someone stated that they haven't met someone deficiant in creatine. Anyone who weight trains reguraly and doesn't eat two pounds of red meat a day is creatine deficiant.

Amino Acids are naturally occuring in all meats, fish, eggs etc. Why protein tears up your kidneys huh? It is a by product of milk so I guess to much milk is bad?

Common sense is not all that common

I was just wondering if there is really anything to worry about with the suplaments damaging the kidney's/liver as I've done some research and it seems that I hear differing stories. Of course the bodybuilding sites say there is no evidence that whey protein or l-glutamine cause problems but some general information sites say that Whey protein can cause liver damage. I'm assuming they mean if you overdose on it right? As long as you do the recommended you should be in the clear? Here is a list of what i've started taking recently:

Mega Men Multi
B-Complex vitamin
Fish oil/flax seed
L-Glutamine
Whey Protein

What i'm really wondering is if this will hurt my kidney's or liver. Also, I know combining different supplaments can have different results good and bad. Should I just drop the Whey protein and l-glutamine because I'm not really trying to beef up? Just want to cut down some body fat and get in shape. I go to BJJ class 2x a week and the gym once a week. Also isnt combining a protein bar and whey protein a bad idea? Too much protein can hurt the liver from what i've read here and on the net. Let me know what you guys think.

I'm not big on eating meat, so I usually have to down a protein shake here and there. I usually take vitamin supplements too.

As for taking creatine, I used to take that when I was into lifting weights, but not anymore. It's too expensive and I don't lift weights seriously anymore.

I've been using the Advocare performance stuff. Good results but expensive if you don't have an angle to knock the price down. The only creatine they have is in the recovery shakes and then it's only 2 grams per shake.

Definitely stay away from ephedra. Thermogenics as a whole seem kind of shady to me, but then I don't even drink caffiene, so I might just be biased.

The for lifters you are doing much more damage to you muscles than you would doing cardio exercises. You need the hight protein intake to repair the damage you've done. The repair is what leads to growth.

Can anyone name a strength athelete who is a veggie?
