While I vote Democratic I most associate myself with Libertarian beliefes of non-intrusion of the goverment into personal life. Unfortunately the Libertarian party literature I've read neglects to address real issues of concern regarding the environment and the fact that there are winners and losers in all social interactions. And they're a third party and hence really a non-entity.
While I sympathize with the Green's they're often not really connected to reality in some of what they say.
That leaves me with the democratic party.
I clicked Independent for the same reason Dochter chose against Libertarian. I chose against Democrat because racial politics and socialized health care, not to mention a kind of indistinct foreign policy, are all deeply uninteresting to me.
(Actually I don't agree that there are losers in all social interactions, but Libertarians sometimes want to deny that there are losers at all, nor how easy it is to stack the deck so that the winners are predetermined).

It was a real toss up between Libertarian and independent for me. I went with Libertarian because I believe that the Government is too big, it takes on more tasks and ventures than it should.
From the perspective of working within the law, there is just too much crap. Administrative law is a big example. I am always on the lookout for a quo warranto action.
I wonder what the founding fathers would think about the current state of affairs.
Xango,
Actually I chose Libertarian. I vote Democratic. There are of course aspects of both major parties I really don't like. The democratic (not mainstream democratic) opposition to the death penalty being one point.
I was pretty ambiguous there though.

I voted for 'retarded'... What can I say, being here has affected me a lot in negative ways... There's no way I'd have voted for ANYTHING at all before, unless I oppose something & then I'd vote for the other one. & no that's not related to Bush / Kerry esp. since I live in an another country. ..
& yeah, Anarchists are going to flock for a choice that's available on a list ;)...

Hehe...I put myself down as libertarian, but only because Fascist wasn't an option. I'm a Fascist, but when that's not an option, I say everyone else can go to hell for all I care, I only want to pay for my own needs, and if there's a charity I deem worthy, mabye I'll donate, MABYE.
Heh, Choke, that was almost an option. Limited to 10 though. :(
