I am not sure how W. Rabbit found this, I'll assume he was looking for some Dune inspired pornography and got sidetracked. However, this is just too good not to share. What I give you here is the Bene Gesserit Training Manual:

http://tau.solahpmo.com/assets/BGManual.pdf

Which includes fun references to Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu because by Acolyte stage they require:

An Acolyte is responsible for all of the quotidian responsibilities of the chapter. She must also obtain at least a two-year degree, if she has not already done so. She must acquire her black belt in Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu. She must be able to demonstrate advanced sexual techniques on a training male in the presence of or while being observed by a reverend mother. She will receive the full solo death education. Her training is generally supervised by an Archacolyte, an Acolyte in the final phase of her training.

Apparently The Space Witches of the Bene Gesserit were Ninja:

We recommend that you seek out a qualified instructor from the Bujinkan. It is the only school of combat approved by the Bene Gesserit. The Bene Gesserit method of combat is identical in every respect to the method taught by the Bujinkan.

"She must be able to demonstrate advanced sexual techniques on a training male in the presence of or while being observed by a reverend mother."

Their enemies include the Honored Matres and the LGBT.

I'm trying to figure out which of the training weapons are used in the advanced sexual techniques.

Did you catch this gem?

*(We recommend bringing one of the sisters sons along to be used as a sexual technique demonstration ždummy. A 14 to 16 year old boy is good for this; they become erect easily, but are not cunning enough to spoil the effects of our techniques.
Furthermore, it is harmless; we have yet to hear a single complaint from the boys. They all finish high school with a personal confidence and emotional stability their peers cannot begin to emulate.)

I wonder if this rash of teachers banging their students is all BG related? :)

I find it funny that this entire concept was created by a dude and that this "manual" was written by a dude.

What the hell am I reading?

Our BG males are excellent actors and teachers. They are usually as well trained as any of our women (or better) and are capable of role playing for those who need insight into the male psyche and its more exploitable angles.

They are indispensable when it comes to infiltration of all-male organizations, manipulating powerful non-BG females and testing our own skills in combat, sexual technique and truthsense.

Should we be worried about their sexual technique testing?

Dan Fletcher has a couple other fantasy works available on Amazon.

"The Art of Life and Death: Lessons in Budo From a Ninja Master"

http://www.amazon.com/The-Art-Life-Death-Lessons/dp/080484304X

"Japanese Throwing Weapons: Mastering Shuriken Throwing Techniques" (with DVD)

A book on shuriken he wrote after meeting Hatsumi.

Not sure what to make of this one, alternative historical fiction where the Nazis take Britain.

I think we are in 15 year old boy posting with one hand territory.

Dan is in his early/mid 20's and has traveled the world apparently on a drug fueled binge, writing about ninjas, Nazis, and the Bene Gesserit sex techniques. And LSD and mescaline. He's been a busy boy.

Some of the 1 star comments on his "Budo" book are really, really illuminating:

One's `wisdom' is someone else's senselessness

What I found particularly disdainful--aside from the ambiguous and seemingly occult tone throughout, e.g. `Budo will overwhelm you', `Budo gives with one hand and takes with the other', `It is one thing to know that budo doesn't come cheap, but it is quite another to actually pay with a piece of your soul', `If you can persevere with the demons in the teachings, you will come to see the angels as well'...etc.,(page18)-- is the chapter entitled Sex and Feces.

Some passages are as inexplicable as there are inapt.

`If only one of us understands it will be enough. It only takes one sperm to make a baby.' (Page 122)
`Do it without grabbing, do it without touching....Don't forget your evil laugh.' `You are all piles of s***, but through training, a beautiful flower may grow.' (page 123) `Women are very good at controlling men. You're skilled indeed if you can control others like a woman can. (page 123)' This chauvinistic and masochistic quote is spoken by a true patriarch.
`Go ahead and slap him. Say, `You sl*t!' and slap him. This is like a husband and wife fighting.' (page 124) If this is deemed similar to a husband and wife fighting, arguably it is an abusive, and thus entirely unhealthy relationship.

`I'm going to my room to m*sturb*te before I have a light lunch, if you would like to come and watch.' (page 125, quote attributed to Salvador Dali, the painter?)
`If you ever get chased by a big scary dog, don't hold back if it scares the s*** out of you. The s*** you leave behind may cause him to lose your scent in the trees. If you are being chased by a man, he may slip in the s*** and hit his head on a rock. (pg 125)"

`Wow! That's pretty good, isn't it?' `(the grandmaster was admiring a giant p*nis that he had painted for someone)'

Again: what the hell?

I read a bit more of the combat part. Lots of advice on attitude etc. Can't really appreciate it with no prejudice now. Members with experience with BBT should take a look. The combat chapter starts on page 151.

Edit: do they train with broken coffee cup shards in the Booj?

So here are some actual Dune factoids that some might find interesting related to the original martial arts in the book, which were kind of neat and based on human history, but advanced many thousands of years into forms of telepathy and ESP as well. The Lynch movie (which I enjoyed) kind of distorts the original writing, as does Dan Fletcher's fan fic...so let's set the record straight.

No, Herbert does not rely on Bujinkan or ninjas at all, but does draw very heavily from Chinese, Japanese, Muslim and Western fighting arts to create the kinds of martial arts that might evolve by the year 10,000AD. Funny enough he seems to like the idea of martial arts continuing to "mix" over millennia along with advances in human brain (and exposure to certain exotic extraterrestrial substances).

The "canonical" Dune is actually host to a number of advanced human martial arts methods, including the "kempo" of the Fremen, but also the Bene Gesserit practice of prana-bindu, essentially mind-body mastery and the martial practices that it enabled (swift agility, killing abilities, and of course "the Voice").

http://dune.wikia.com/wiki/Prana-bindu

"Prana" is the Sanskrit word for "life force" (ie. "chi"), bindu means "dot", hence the art of focusing your life force to a single point/intention.

In the book it was intended to be an empty handed artform of the Bene Gesserit, but in the movie David Lynch invented a "Weirding Module" plot device to replace "kung fu on sand dunes". The Module, an acoustic weapon, replaced what was in the books an empty hand to hand fighting art the Fremen referred to (and feared) as the "Weirding Way".

So, in the scene below, where Paul Atreides explains the capabilities of the "Way" ("suffocate an enemy, or burst his organs" etc), he's actually describing a 10,000 year old bare-handed style of fighting that utilizes "prana-bindu" to create lethal, lighting fast adversaries (who until Paul learned the way, were all women).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQeP6GWU0e4

Fremen Kempo on the other hand is meant to be what many martial arts have coalesced to by the year 10,000 specifically due to the Fremen's fictional Zen+Sunni Islam lineage, not to mention influence by their generations of addiction to melange, the spice of Arrakis.

http://www.dunefilmbook.com/dune/dunedescriptions/fremdesc.htm

Fremen Kempo

This is the martial art of the Fremen natives to Arrakis. Almost unknown to the general population of the Imperium, Fremen Kempo is a dynamic combat style. Its roots are found in the ancient teachings of predecessors of the Zensunni wanderers who first colonized Arrakis. There are dozens, if not hundreds, of different branches of the style, from "soft" styles similar to ancient T'ai Chi to "hard" styles not unlike kickboxing, and numerous variations in between as the various Fremen sietches personalize their own style. A mixed bag of the extremes is described here. There is a considerable body of legend around the Fremen and their role in the Imperium history. Their ferocity in battle is unrivaled in the galaxy.

The Fremen weapon of choice is the crysknife, a knife made from the tooth of a sandworm. It is considered most sacred by the Fremen. The tip, the hollow once occupied by the tooth's nerve, customarily holds a small amount of the most deadly poison available, most often a mixed derivative of the native desert plants. Fremen usually attempted to avoid killing a respected enemy with the tip of the blade; poison was considered a weapon more suitable for use against animals than humans. Other weapons included the kindjal, a curved, double-bladed short sword, short sticks, staffs, weighted chains, and whips. Weaponless combat also plays an important part in this style, with strikes, locks and throws being used.

Training is very intensive, designed to develop flexibility and speed more than strength.

Oddly enough I'm re-reading Dune right now.

Love Dune but was never able to get into any of the other books in the series....

I like the story of Dune but have always had a hard time reading it, same thing with LOTR.
Right now I am listening to the Audio book of Foundation and Earth after that I have some more Asimov on deck.
Been trying to get my hands on a decent Hitchhikers guide audio book.
