I've posted most of these somewhere on here at some point, but since this consolidation thing is the new thing to do, I'm going to post my limited selection of Kyokushin tournament rounds, and add as I continue to do more. I'm not, and have never made claims to be anything special, but I do like to compete on a local level (even though I didn't really start until I was 29...after 4 and a half years of Aikijutsu)

This is the first fight in the first competition in which I competed, in April of 2011. I'm the guy on the right who gets slaughtered:

And here is from April of 2012, first round. I win by decision against a rather tall opponent.

Here I am in my second (and last) fight of the April 2012 tournament, getting kidney punched by a striking instructor (I actually really like this guy). I tried to get back up to fight, but the body wasn't having it. No one has ever hit me this hard and in succession.

Here's my first fight from Washington state's annual semi-contact tournament (same rules, but with MMA gloves and shin guards...and headgear this year for some weird ass reason) in October 2012, about a month and a half ago. I won this one by decision.

And, most recently, here's the heavyweight final of the semi-contact tournament from October 2012. I'm actually fighting one of the senior students from my school here. He has 30 lbs on me, and generally kicks my ass in class, so I wasn't surprised by the result.

(and yes, I realize that my gf spelled Sempai wrong when she posted.)

Big improvement between 2011 and 2012. You seem to be far more canny from the offset in vid 2

Good job!

were you penalised for slipping over in vid 2 (don't know the KK rule set)

Those leg shots sounded sore

Thanks! I do feel like I've become lighter on my feet. No, you don't really get penalized for slips in KK. Those were happening because I was trying to throw knees into the midsection of a guy much taller than I. If I missed, I was all off balance. I obviously wouldn't throw em like that in an MMA ruleset.

And yeah, that first fight ever screwed my leg up really bad for awhile. I was purple from my knee up to my upper thigh, and I had blood pooling in my foot, which made it look bruised.

Also, in that first fight, I'd only been training KK for about 5 months.

I entered a knockdown tournament last year where they changed the rules from Kyokushin to the altered kyokushin with headgear, gloves, and shinpads. I didn't like it, partially because it wasn't my best performance. How'd you like it?

Well, it's a place to try things which you're not as comfortable with, cause you're less likely to get rocked. On the other hand, it makes it very difficult to ippon someone in a no head punch ruleset.

A couple matches the judges scored it like semi contact, and gave a wazari for any kick to head. I don't know if they kept that throughout though.

Well done . Your opponent in the second fight certainly moves well what was his rank ? (I saw the white belt)

Wow, that looks rough!! It would be great for street fighting if street fighters weren't headhunters. And eventually you are going to get a blown out knee fighting like that. Have you picked out your cane yet?
