Anyone notice in the second round a bit of push hands going on? Are we seeing the renaissance the chunners want so desperately to happen?
I'm only half joking, many of those elbows landed seemed to be the direct result of Jones holding Rashad's hands, touching his hands and anticipating through the movement where Rashad would go. Luckily Rashad put the kibosh on that mid round, not engaging like that anymore. Anyone notice this or am I just going c(hun)razy?
I knew it all along, I knew Brother Daniel was right and everyone else was wrong!!
Rumour is Dana is lining up Shawn Obasi as the next competitor!

It's that reach. I imagine if Rashad could have got in a little closer without all the warning alarms of impending attack going off, he would have attempted more takedowns. Also, I think Jones fought a bit more conservatively to deny Rashad much of a chance at getting the takedown.
In the end, though, Rashad was all talk. If there is a great secret to beating Jones, no one has yet discovered it.
I bet Hendo could give it a good shot. That I'd love to see.

Thoughts on last night:
I said Stephens needed a bigger test, and Matt Brown provided it. His karate may be good, but just because you're a Machado by marriage doesn't give you a ground game. According to my brother, this fight is more proof that the Lord Thy God smites fauxhawks and blesses beards, he cites the victories of Rothwell and Jones in support. It was pointed out that Rashad also had a beard, but he stated that was not a true beard, only "facial hair of hypocrisy". When asked how to tell the two apart, he told the questioner that if you have to ask, rest assured anything that sprouts on your chin is Facial Hair of Hypocrisy
Rashad does like to play patty cake during his fights, that's what he was doing when Lyoto knocked him out. Conclusion:
Not even Rashad Evans can make Chi sau work.
PS
Is it just me or does Homineck look like a grey alien?

Wow. Quick Bobby, wish for Fedor vs. Couture!

I could be crazy wrong, but doesn't Jones have something like a twenty-yard reach advantage on Hendo? He'd need a trebuchet to get within range.

I thought Rashad landing that head kick was awesome.

In London, ESPN had it on 3AM-6AM. I went to bed. I checked the schedule today hoping it might be on tonight at a reasonable hour - hasn't happened for a while with ESPN - nor now, cos it's being repeated tonight, 2AM-5AM. Effers.
I shall waiting until another repeat this week at a hopefully reasonable hour.
Fingers crossed.
:D
Now lets give Rory a proper challenge, instead of some no name from England.

Bigfoot Silva! Should be an interesting fight.
I've been too wrapped up in the NHL playoffs to watch any MMA.
But I'm glad Jones won..

Hendo's Greco is on a level where, if he does as he's stated he prob. will, and keeps it close, his smaller frame won't automatically work to a disadvantage. His clinch/wrestling power, and obviously the H-bomb can do great things. Even against an unpredictable rangy giant of a guy in Jones.
Jones has done wonders, and sealed himself as the guy to look at in the future, for many. One clean shot from Hendo won't change that, but it could Knock him TFO.
Hendo, who put Bisping through the floor, and blacked out the legendary Fedor. Yeah...this guy, since he started trusting his right hand, is a threat to end it suddenly. Jones seems to pwn compact power, but Hendo is on another level with it.
Jones has superb wrestling, but I think Dan is at the very very bottom of the LHW list (next to Jones himself), as to who's gonna get out-wrestled.
Experience + compact power w/ an inside game + H bomb = possible win. I wouldn't be surprised if Hendo beats Jones, challenges and beats Anderson, and calls it a day. Not saying it'll happen, but it wouldn't shock me. Nothing he does surprises me any more.

i kinda felt that was one of jones worst performances. he looked REAL nervous. stiff as a board early in the fight
I saw it the same way. Evans definitely got into his head, though these seemed to dissipate as the match wore on.
I felt the rest of the card was good though. Definitely not a classic or anything, but I found myself pretty entertained overall by the rest of it. I was very impressed with Michael McDonald's victory.

I would never write of Henderson but I cant help but think Jones is just too big and too athletic.

Game changing right hand helps though. True, Jones has the assets, but Dan hits like a HW.
Is it possible some of Jones "wild" moves could backfire? If some of his success hinges on his unpredictable strikes, he'll need to keep that up, but Dan could make him pay, if he starts to read him. Is Jones' chin so good, he can take it? I don't know.
I wonder what odds will be set?

Counterpoint:
Ricardo Arona and Ninja Rua put Dan on his back, Jones has a better record both credentials wise and using wrasslin in MMA than those guys.
