Mr Jones.
Finally, Rashad got booed less than the other guy. It's been a while since that happened.
Wow people are boo'ing Jon Jones? Why!? :(
Then again, why boo at all?

tall poppy syndrome. people try and paint jon jones as being arrogant or cocky, citing **** like the fact that jackson told him to go see if lyoto was ok after he choked him to get more fans. few points-
1. thats part of his coaches fucking job. my coach tells me to go shake the other guys hand if i forget, of course nobody gives a **** because im not the world champ, but for some reason this makes him arrogant.
2. the fact that he isnt a black chael sonnen amazes me since he fucking DESTROYS everything he touches
Light Heavyweight: Jon Jones (c) vs. Rashad Evans
Welterweight: Rory MacDonald vs. Che Mills
Heavyweight: Brendan Schaub vs. Ben Rothwell
Bantamweight: Miguel Torres vs. Michael McDonald
Featherweight: Mark Hominick vs. Eddie Yagin
Lightweight: Mark Bocek vs. John Alessio
Rory is a beast by the way and deserves way more media promotion.
Damn, this whole GSP/Condit/Diaz love traingle mishap is clogging up the Welterweights.
I'm actually worried about all the media attention Rory gets. I'm afraid it'll go to his head and if he loses eventually, it'll be a big come down.

Damn Rory killed it, after a slow start the next 3 matches were great. Now lets see how the main event turns out.

Jones won again this time by points which is how I thought he would win. Well it was 44.99 well spent good times and fun fight.

Watching the card now, after falling asleep like a puppy after Real Madrid vs Barca.
Mark Hominick is supremely irritating. He knows just ONE pace, no fast, no slow.
"Machine", indeed.
Not a bad card, was a little saddened by the main event though, was maybe expecting more?
i kinda felt that was one of jones worst performances. he looked REAL nervous. stiff as a board early in the fight

Yeah, the card was a snoozer, mostly, and the main event more so.
I was supremely disappointed about Maximo Blanco's performance.
One of my favorite fighters, and he undersold himself pretty badly.

Jones did indeed not look his best in this fight. He still handled Evans with the greatest of ease both standing and in the clinch. Evans really did not seem to have answer for Jones' reach standing and did not seem to be nearly aggressive enough in the clinch. Jones looking about two weight classes heavier didn't help either.
It really says something about the calibre of an athlete when he can put on a terrible performance and still vastly outclass top opposition.

Anyone notice in the second round a bit of push hands going on? Are we seeing the renaissance the chunners want so desperately to happen?
I'm only half joking, many of those elbows landed seemed to be the direct result of Jones holding Rashad's hands, touching his hands and anticipating through the movement where Rashad would go. Luckily Rashad put the kibosh on that mid round, not engaging like that anymore. Anyone notice this or am I just going c(hun)razy?

I saw Rashad's route to success being his diving double leg and his low single.
John Jones even admitted that if Evans holds any advantage against him, its in the grappling.
He made 1 half arsed takedown defence the whole fight. The one thing that annoys me more than ANYTHING else in MMA is when a fighter sticks to a gameplan that is evidently not working for him. He should have been going for broke to get Jones to the ground from the 4th round onwards.
It's that reach. I imagine if Rashad could have got in a little closer without all the warning alarms of impending attack going off, he would have attempted more takedowns. Also, I think Jones fought a bit more conservatively to deny Rashad much of a chance at getting the takedown.
In the end, though, Rashad was all talk. If there is a great secret to beating Jones, no one has yet discovered it.
