Siam is too far since I don't have a car. All the MT gyms are in Scarlem :( Also, the poll is now really skewed because all those people voted Muay Thai just because it's Muay Thai.
Plus, there's a full-time contracting job in the way. My day usually starts at 7AM and ends by 4PM, sometimes a few hours earlier. During the last fall term where I was taking 4.5 credits, I pulled Karate two nights a week, Judo two nights a week and MMA club on Saturday. I did weights when I felt like it, which was about four times in the whole term.
The schedule has been revised to put weights in the morning. I'm really close to the gym so if there's nothing for me to do at work that morning I can go work out.
Hey, that's too bad. I think you would have liked Siam No. 1. Master Suchart is a past Northern Thailand Divisional Champion and is an amazing teacher. I spent 2 years training with a former 2 time Canadian Kickboxing champion in Edmonton, a student of Frank Lee's Academy of Martial Sciences, but all of that pales in comparison to what I've learnt at Siam No. 1. Master Suchart has the ability to recogize and correct subtle deficiencies that, once corrected, will elevate your abilities, dramatically. All of his fighters help and encourage each other, and the spirit in the place is pretty amazing. If you can, find a way to get there, it will be well worth your effort.
And good luck with your University education, and protecting your investment (brains). I have a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, am 44 years old, and even though I'm way too old to be climbing into the ring, I'm still training Muay Thai as much as I can.
Take good care of yourself!

Never mind, apparently I have no idea where anything is located in this town. Siam isn't that far after all; it's about 1.5 long-ass bus rides. Probably a 30-45min commute at night. Shah's dojo is right between the Lawrence and York Mills subway stations, so that's not exactly close either.
Aw, why did the choice have to become hard again :(

SOME areas of the brain have regenerative properties; others accumulate scar tissue. The trick for stemcell research will be to grow healthy populations of neurons, then get them working INSTEAD of the damaged bits.

**** Shumagorath, it looks like only about three miles. Why don't you just jog over and back? Wimp
(this from a fat guy who's hardly worked out in weeks - went from three or four times a week to one; well climbing trees with a chain saw and taxes and backpackin S Utah should count).

I have been boxing since I was a kid, never had any brain damage. What wehat were we talking about again LOL AHHAHAHA. But anyway I have also did karate and wrestling to give me kicks and ground skills. Boxing teaches you how to fight quickly that is the one thing I love about it. And it has saved my butt in a lot of street fights also. Cross training is great also.
Cross training is great also.

I picked up the Shah Franco signup sheet today. I plan on joining Monday. After talking with the man himself for a few minutes, he says I can keep my Shodan because it will only take 2-3 months to fix the lack of training inherent in Nothern Karate divisions. Otherwise, I guess I "passed" their eval last winter.
On that note, Mon/Wed is now Karate and Tues/Thurs BJJ.

I train at the northern location under Shihan Tony LaSelva.. a damn good instructor when he decides to teach the class
I train hard enough at NK to make it worth my while though.. everyone else waltzs through class..menwhile im the mofo that had a pool of sweat at my feet.. hence the reason im at SIAM #1 as well now.. i feel at home there..

Yeah, I trained like that at my spinoff too. But there were five people excluding the instructor who were WAY above me (four huge guys and sensei Adam), and the rest were target practice. You can only go so far in that environment.
I'm still going to visit Siam #1 this month; can you tell me what's a good time to drop by and watch a class?

House of Muay Thai is Siam#1!?!? I've been wondering about that for a while.
Can I ask why you guys don't compete in the CAMTAO competitions?
House of muaythai sounds like a restaurant...
Now that I have the general vacinity of where shumabobo lives, all I need now is to program that mini-thermonuclear warhead I have lying around...

I haven't seen anyone from there...yet. But I haven't seen all the CAMTAO competitions either.
It's all good...thought you were there longer.
