Obviously the difference between choking someone out with a rear choke and breaking their neck is a narrow one.

Considering the moral and legal implications of breaking someone's neck, how do you train both variations safely and effectively.

I disagree.

Well to choke them, you just choke. To break the neck, you make sure they sign the waiver first.

WHAT?

Chokes just put pressure on the neck to cutoff the windpipe (too slow) or the cartoid arteries/jugular veins (fairly quick)

A neck break would require a lot of force and/or leverage to excecute. Every 'move' I've ever seen to do so rotate the head by putting pressure on the jaw and would infact break the jaw before the neck. Still effective, but not exactly deadly.

I've also seen facelocks that put pressure on the nose. Nasty. I've also seen some where pressure is put on the temple, but I don't see those as particularly useful.

just what part of the "neck" do you think you can break with a RNC?

Well, when I put a rear naked on people it seems that the force I'm exerting COULD break their neck. But I've never choked anyone out nor broken their neck, cos I haven't done it to its full extent.

I usually do it to my support workers

you're probably just doing it wrong then.

Who are these support workers you keep talking about?

My support workers who help me with daily tasks and organise activities for me. Most of which fail miserably.

Maybe you should stop breaking their necks.

That's great. Choke the people who serve you.

Can you explain to me where you'd get the leverage to break someone's neck from behind when THEY'RE FREE TO JUST KEEP TURNING THEIR BODY AT WILL?

Best neck break I ever saw was in Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. He actually reached over a carseat, supported his elbows on the armrest, and broke a hooker's neck using only his wrists. Amazing.

Choke : squeezing the heck out of someones neck

Neck break: twisting the heck out of someones head, made easier
if the body is moving in the opposite direction as the head.

Actually. . .a WIDE difference.

Training for chokes involves "listening" to your partner(s). Go at it carefully, and stop when they tell you to. Then, have them put it on you, so you know what it feels like from both sides.

Once you get the hang of it, you can try putting it on resisting opponents.

wouldn't a neck break be closer to a neck crank than a choke?
