View Full Version : "That's How I Roll" cufflinks!

11/23/2011 11:27pm,

We just got these done in time for the holiday rush. These are sterling silver cufflinks we make ourselves, with a drawing of tomoe-nage from a '20s French dictionary.

Why you should buy these:

-Made by my moms (also a Relson purple belt) and me, by hand, with actual metalworking techniques (no ****-ass pewter or glue).

-You're supporting a small, family business.

-I can guaran-fucking-tee you noone else you know has one of these.

-They are small and witty, thus they are a non-douchey way to show you like to grapple.

-Wearing cufflinks makes you automatically 15% more dapper

-You're helping to support me competing. Oh and food and rent, but you know, priorities.

-Bullshido members get ten percent off their next order.

We can also do these as a pendant.

Edit: There's also these (http://www.etsy.com/listing/48741377/lover-and-a-fighter-mens-cuff-links-gift?ref=sr_gallery_6&ga_search_submit=&ga_search_query=MMA&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_page=2&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_facet=handmade) cufflinks too. Yes, that really happened.

One pair of "a lover and a fighter".
I'll do a paypal payment Saturday or Sunday (can't access paypal at work).

How do you maintain them, so that the silver doesn't fade to black?

Silver tarnish can be removed using sheets of aluminum in a warm water and soda solution.
This will not remove the silver, unlike manual polishes.

The usual tarnish on silver is the black sulfide. The cool thing about this is that you can instantly remove the tarnish from any silver item with commonly available household items, and I do mean fast!

Aluminum is far above silver in the activity series for metals, and in a suitable solution will reduce the silver in the silver sulfide, reforming silver metal. The reaction is spontaneous and rapid in warm water:

2Al(s) + 3Ag2S(s) + 6H2O -> 6Ag(s) + 2Al2(OH)3(s) + 3H2S(aq)

So, all you have to do is get a container big enough for the silver item, partially fill it with warm water and a couple tablespoons of sodium bicarbonate, a.k.a. baking soda [linked by editor to product info at Amazon], place some clean aluminum foil in the container and then just dunk the tarnished item in the bucket. The silver item has to touch the aluminum. It works in a few seconds, no scratches, no muss, no fuss, and then all you you do is rinse the item off. There is no adverse environmental impact, none of the ingredients are in any way toxic (they are food grade!), there is no abrasion or scratching of the silver and you can use your bare hands to remove the treated items from the solution. Just rinse and dry the silver when you are done, & pour the "used" solution down the drain! Re-use or recycle the aluminum foil.

Too late to edit, but "washing" soda is stronger i believe.

Your Etsy Purchase from zoeymarchjewelry (44362004)

Voila, I made the purchase, so you can go on your quest to choke more people out. (Didn't have time in the weekend).

Do you have any pictures of girls/guys wearing the pendants?

The dragonfly one is pretty. I think I'll order one for my girlfriend.

Pity you don't have any muay thai or boxing themed stuff.

Zen: You can buy a cloth specifically designed for that purpose. Sanding sponges or very fine steel wool also work. Let me know if you buy anything else so I can give you the discount. Thanks for buying!

Sang: Technically i'm wearing the rolling ones in the picture. I can give you some wider shots though if you want to see how they hang. The drops are 10x14mm each. That may seem small but the domed glass makes the image pop out.

The 26th is an extra civil servant holiday here and in the couple of past weeks there have been some spontanious strikes of the civil servants also, so personally I expected them around the 15th of January at earliest, but the timing was perfect, they arrived exactly on my Birthday.
