I found this on:
http://www.emptyflower.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi/YaBB.cgi?board=Xing;action=display;num=1079119801
It's too long for me to cut and paste.
I like this quote:
He was born a warrior and all he cared about was martial Arts
How many of you are warriors that are so dedicated that you only care about martial arts?
The truth of the matter is that there is many "Warriors" out there anymore.

You cant really compare that time to modern times, as lots of MAist in China during that time learnt it as a profession besides passion itself~~~
However in Singapore I had seen a handful of MAist who are really dedicated to the atr itself~~~

As confusing as its twirling~~~
That post was initially in response to my posting the Song Wi Yi article. He posted a link to the article here:
http://www.emptyflower.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi/YaBB.cgi?board=Xing;action=display;num=1078920270; start=15
The third post down, but none of us could open it so he started a new thread with the article. I got a chance to read it in it's original form and it is a lot less confusing when formatted with HTML instead of cut-and-pasted. Clear headings, selected boldface, etc.
Much of the Song Wei Yi story has been officially disproven. So that long confusing article is a summary of why people think the Song Wei Yi story is BS

**** it man. I'm tired of editing my posts...I can't get the damn link to work. I give up.

If I may intrude on this thread, here is another link that I feel might help unravel some of the history. Ibelieve that this website orignally translated it from some chinese texts. http://www.geocities.com/ottawakungfu/250Bagau002.htm

I only recently started studying this style and it seems to fit for now. I feel a great mental connection. I might post a review on my first few lessons later on, if I am able to get my thoughts clear on paper.

if Hsing-I came from the spear does it teach the use of the spear?
I'm not Jenfucious but....
Yes.

would you say that wing chun's "staff" resembles spear techniques?
Not from the little I've seen.
Hsing-I - yup, linear, spear, also good for bayonet, taught to the Chinese Military in the early 1900's.
I studied it for a few months, neat art - whole body art. It didn't teach me to avoid a punch or kick, move fast, but if/when I got ahold of you - any part of you - it was rip, tear, break, chew, etc.
Cool stuff.
But for now I'm going back to something closer to home - either MMA (JKD/Wing Chun/Muy Thai/BJJ) or traditional Karate - probably shotokan.
