Tim Sylvia... wasn't he a UFC champion at some point? Wow, that's very impressive. :new_Llol:

Seriously, the dude fell hard.

The Mercer loss was the toughest. He's been trying to inch his way back up ever since. Next month he's also slated to fight Pedro Rizzo. There was a rumor that the winner would get a UFC contract, but I doubt that's true.

Hmm, I'm somehow envisioning Sylvia vs Cro Cop now.

Tim Sylvia weighed in at 311 lbs:

He took the fight on fairly short notice, to be fair. But his hopes of getting back to the UFC look dim if he keeps showing up to fights that heavy.

Interestingly enough, I was reading an article about Ricco Rodriguez yesterday that said he's slimmed down to 215 lbs. Rodriguez, as some of you might know, was pretty fucking fat for a long time after his UFC run. But now he's on a ten-fight win streak and is slated to smash James McSweeny in BAMMA.

Omaigot.

Talk about a premature stoppage, damn.
Wagner's hands were meh. But Sylvia's hands were just plain bad.

EDIT: The most premature stoppage ever?

I like Sylvia, personally, but that was a godawful performance. Did Sylvia stop training or something? Every fight he has, he looks clumsier and fatter. At this point, he's almost Tank Abbott with a worse goatee.

Dude, Tank Abbott does not even have a goatee.

The red erred on the side of caution.

It's not the least justified I've ever seen. The ref actually looked like he didn't want to stop it for a second, but he knew his call had to be final. A referee's call has to be definite, or else you end up with Matt Brown vs. Pete Sell.

I assume Sylvia vs. Rizzo is off for now. Abe Wagner at least has something more to brag about than being the recipient of a really nasty-ass cut on TUF:

I don't compete,so my opinion is a little moot,but that looked like a **** stoppage.

I don't know bugger all about Sylvias opponent, but did anyone else notice how much scarring that guy had on his cheek bones?
Looked like a dude that missed blocking/covering 101.
Definitely a tough S.O.B

Wasn't the worst stoppage I've ever seen, considering Sylvia had jelly legs when he got up and needed the ref to keep him standing up. Another few punches wouldn't have made a difference, that fight was over.

Edit- just watched the Brown/Sell fight. Now THAT was fucked up. Don't they at least usually call a break to get a guy's mouthpiece back in?

To be honest, when I heard Ricco Rodriguez slimmed down and was on a 10-fighting winning streak, I thought Tim might be able to turn his career around too. In light of his last fight, though, I seriously doubt he has the motivation to get back on track.
