Didn't think I would say this but Edgar/Maynard saved the card for me (the aired fights, at least). I wasn't expecting it to be so exciting, but I also had it 48-46 Maynard. I wasn't really impressed by the other fights - Stun Gun, while it was nice to watch his grappling technique, pretty much took down and laid on Diaz; Vera was just depressing to watch; Stann beat Leben which I didn't want to see. Edgar/Maynard was awesome though. Maynard is kind of getting screwed by not getting a rematch but I do think he should get the Edgar/Pettis winner.

I agree with the Roman Gladiator crap - that **** is old now, time for something different.

I recommend something like this:

I agree with the draw.
Round 1 - 10-8 Maynard
Round 2 - 9-10 Edgar
Round 3 - 10-9 Maynard
Round 4 - 9-10 Edgar
Round 5 - 9-10 Edgar

47-47

That's what I had too, though round 5 was a tossup for me.

So apparently, there's going to be yet another immediate rematch. Under normal circumstances I'd understand, buy you have Pettis waiting with the WEC belt. Giving Maynard the winner of Edgar/Pettis would have made more sense than having the holder of the other belt that needs unifying fart around in a holding pattern.

Edgar must be getting sick of fighting the same people by this point.

Maybe give Pettis another title contender during the meantime? who else is at the top of the 155 ladder?

Sotiropoulos had previously been mentioned as being considered for a shot. Jim Miller also has been on a roll, so maybe him too, but management doesn't seem to like it when guys complain about not getting a shot.

It was a good night of fights for me.
Regarding the Stun-Gun - Diaz fight, DHK definitely won, but seeing a pro fighter gas out at the end like that, is always sort of a downer.
Maynard-Edgar was a helluva fight, Edgar is really making a stand against cutting weight with his speed and cardio (I know it's not necessarily because of that, and he's an incredible athlete and so on, but still).

The rest of the fights were good as well.

God, I hate this immediate rematch nonsense. It was a great fight, and I think 47-47 was an accurate score. Sorry Maynard but you didn't do quite enough to win the title.

Let's see Edgar vs Pettis as planned, then Maynard vs [insert other no1 contender] to fight for the next title shot.

Frankie Edgar vs Gray Maynard. That's what a title fight should be!

@Holy Moment - It was reminiscent of that fight, but a bit less brutal. Good bye to Baroni.

Chris Leben vs Brian Stann - Disappointed, but Stann looked really strong.
Thiago Silva vs Brandon Vera - Wow that was almost boring. Silva playing drums on Vera's back was slightly amusing. That nose wasn't the worse I've seen, but pretty bad. Vera was 'admiring' it on the big screen as well, funny antics.
Nate Diaz vs Dong Hyun Kim - Too much wrestling, but that's what won DHK the decision.
Clay Guida vs Takanori Gomi - Nice head movement from Guida. Why hasn't a shampoo company come forward to sponsor him yet?

Leben got Caned by Stann. He looked damned Good.
Silva v Vera. At 30 secs in, Joe Rogan offered a marvellous Hostage to Fortune, when he said something along the lines of Vera walking it like he talked it - forgive my shoddy paraphrasing. I thought it was a bit early to say such a thing particularly as it became apparent that Silva was taking control and was much stronger. Rogan seemed to be guilty of favouritism toward Vera IMO. The right man won and that was a bad nose injury. Still, they both had AWFUL tattoos...
Diaz v Kim. I thought Kim won clearly but again, I thought Rogan was showing favouritism toward Diaz. Was it supposed to be America's night or something?? Of course, I could be wrong but that's what it seemed like to me.
Guida v Goma. Good Lord. I was agog at Guida's posturing, rhythm and side to side movement. Burning energy and fooling himself to my dodgy eyesight. It's just as well he back combs his Samson-like Mane otherwise it might have got into his own eyes. It looked like Goma was just waiting to make the Shot. Pity he got caught out. Still, Guida was Right and I was Wrong. Even so, I'll be expecting him to get beat or to beat himself. (His cardio must be good...)
Edgar v Maynard. By the 4th Minute of the 1st Round, I was firmly of the view that the Ref should have stopped the fight. Edgar was badly hurt and I thought a Tragedy was likely. OK,I was wrong and recovered with marvellous Spirit and I thought won the fight despite that fierce 1st Round. Still, it was Maynard's for the taking...and he didn't.

The acrobatics from that Anthony Pettis chappie looked extraordinary. The Ronaldinho of the Octagon. I'll be keen to see him again.

Guida has some of the best cardio in MMA, AFAIK. He always keeps an almost super-human pace, in his fights and I've never seen him gas.

Also, it's Gomi, not Goma.
