I've been following this story too. Reading a lot of the stories on the corruption in the cables is pretty mind blowing. It appears the US is aware of illegal activity by major corporations but isn't prosecuting them for it.
Also, what really bothers me is Bank of America now refusing to process payments (donations) for Wikileaks. Can a Bank really tell you what you can do with your money? That sounds really bad to me.
http://www.kansascity.com/2010/12/17/2528138/bank-of-america-says-it-wont-process.html
well.. they can pressure companies to commit treason against the people. The next question should be what the people can do against the government and these companies.
governments should be afraid of the people
what worldview do you mean he has?
Distrust of authority and government secrecy, great interest and commitment to personal privacy, paranoia, self-reliance, etc...

Unless telling the press that sources have been killed due to wikileaks would undermine US HUMINT efforts. Which would result in the deaths of service members due to lack of information.
Even with the name redacted an intelligence source can be identified by access and placement. HUMINT guys typically have all the identifying information separated from the actual intelligence reports, but IIRC most of the original military documents released were from Civil Affairs, which is not supposed to be running intelligence operations anyhow. But we all know how hard it is to get people to stay in their lane.Responded to it before I got here.
Also, to respond to the question: Yes, I'm sure.

Do you have any details on their deaths? Like what specific reports were released that got them killed. I'm guessing it's somewhere in the Afghan or Iraq logs that were released?

Yeah, would be. Somewhere. Could have been any kind of HUMINT reporting or Civil Affairs. Hell, in Iraq the people who'd kill you only had to think you might have talked to US forces, I'm sure it's the same thing in Afghanistan. Not all of them are very well educated and it would be pretty easy to get a person or family killed on a rumor, let alone tidbits of real information. Confirmation bias runs awful high in that population.

they say that it is irresponsible to leak secret documents.. they say that leaks can costs innocent people their life. We shouldn't really argue this. Leaks can put innocent people in risk.. however.. the Iraq got 106 000 people killed.
Do you think the Iraq war would happen if people knew what they know today?
Do you think the Iraq war was good for the World in general?

Would the US government be able to be effective if there were laws in place to protect people releasing information that solely shows corruption within it? I'm not talking about just releasing random info mixed with info on corruption, but just information that shows corruption inside the government.
Should people inside the government be protected and capable of publishing corruption in the government without threat of prosecution and treason?

There are already whistleblower protection laws in the US. They don't always work out so well for the whistleblowers, though.

Let's take a look at the exemplary conduct of the Swedish police in relation to matters sexual.
A recent news story in expressen.se is rather interesting.
Apparently a senior cop was a regular customer at a strip club run by organised criminals and, in 2008 finding himself unable to pay a bill for sexual services he had already enjoyed, he offered his mobile phone as a pledge.
The phone contained a wealth of sensitive and embarrassing information which is now surfacing.
The cop denies that he handed the phone over in exchange for sexual services, but whatever the truth of the matter, the phone contained evidence of Swedish cops behaving in manners that make Julian Assange's surprise sex look relatively insignificant in comparison, even if true.
Text via google translate, but worth the work it takes to understand it IMO
Then came the police telephone at strip club owner
Kriminalinspektörens tjänstemobil was filled with secret police reports.
Now he is accused of having given the pledge when he could not afford to pay the bill at strip club Privé in Stockholm.
- He gave it as payment for sexual services, "said Michael Badelt, owner of the strip club and convicted of serious crime.
- It is pure fucking lie, "said the policeman to Expressen.
Expressen published yesterday films from kriminalinspektörens mobile, which demonstrated how drunk policemen joked about how they wanted to "assfuck" known criminal named. Other footage showed police officers who joked during shooting practice, detained persons and the disclosure and secretly filmed close-ups of a drugged girl who is taken care of in an emergency department.
But the Express can today reveal that it was not only embarrassing videos and pictures that were saved in kriminalinspektörens mobile phone.
Even more serious was that it was filled with the highly topical and secret police intelligence reports, including the updated Nova and Alcatraz-lists.
Organised crime
At Nova The list has 100 people listed as belonging to the serious crime in the county. On the so-called Alcatrazlistan lists police the country's 100 most offenders people in serious organized crime.
Moreover, there was on the phone lots of downloaded documents with detailed profiles of other criminals, and details of what police know about their suspected crimes, families, girlfriends, houses, cars, networks and contacts.
Strip club OWNER. The owner of the strip club, Michael Badelt, tells how he looked after what was in the mobile phone that he claims that the criminal inspector left to him as Pan
The police know that the mobile phone with the sensitive content of some stage was referred to the offenders strip club owner Michael Badelt.
The phone was found in Badelt during the searches of his house last summer, when the police suspect that Michael Badelt was behind an attack on a rival strip club Kino.
The phone and its sensitive contents were handed over to the police unit for internal investigations.
Michael Badelt says he chose to put all cards on the table and work with police internal investigators.
- I have told you about all the police visit and who I got the phone, "said Badelt to Expressen.
According to Michael Badelt was the criminal inspector himself who handed over his mobile phone services to him. It must have been at one of several visits to the strip club Privé fall of 2008.
Badelt argue that the Nova police called his mobile phone as payment for sexual services at the club.
Sexual services on credit
- Detective Inspector and one of his colleagues took the first contact with me when I took over the club in 2008, said Michael Badelt.
- We talked about cooperation, but shortly after he started coming here alone.
- I also thought he just wanted to inspect the club, but he began to buy massage and other services, claims Badelt.
Detective superintendent in Nova device would not comment on how his mobile phone that was filled with secret police intelligence reports, went to strip club owner Michael Badelt. For Express denies that he knows Badelt.
According to Michael Badelt bought forensic inspector sexual services for 40 000 SEK during their visit.
He never paid, according Badelt, but amused themselves on credit.
- Finally, I asked to get money, "said Michael Badelt.
- But he said he could not pay and when he left his cell phone to me. "Take this mobile mortgage, it is worth far more than the 40 000," he said, claiming Badelt.
Unveiled by the taped conversation
According Badelt paid criminal inspector never blame. Badelt says he hid the phone after he saw what it contained. And he sounded as a precautionary measure to make multiple copies of the sensitive content.
The alleged criminal inspector would not comment. He claims he has never been in private and that he did not know Michael Badelt.
When Expressen hits him, he would not talk about the mobile phone.
It is not true that you have been to private and left it there?
- For the hell. No, it is purely a fucking lie.
Do you know Michael Badelt?
- No, says the criminal inspector.
Expressen has access to an audio file from kriminalinspektörens own mobile which says otherwise. The audio file contains a smygbandat conversation from 2008 between the criminal inspector, a police colleague and Michael Badelt which they discuss the possibility of cooperation.
"Highly inappropriate"
Expressen revealed earlier this fall that another police officer being investigated by the police unit for internal affairs after he made off with over 23 000 dollars on a night at the strip club Privé, and there is also accused of threatening young women who work there as strippers. The same police officer featured in a number of film clips in the currently designated kriminalinspektörens mobile phone.
Margareta Linderoth, head of the county police in Stockholm and the highest responsibility for the Nova Group. She confirms that there is an ongoing investigation into kriminalinspektörens mobile phone.
- You get to talk further with the prosecutor. I did not want to comment on an ongoing criminal investigation. I've already seen the movies and content.
- It is shameful, indecent, as occasionally very inappropriate, "said Margareta Linderoth.
Kay Engfeldt, deputy chief prosecutor at the national drive for polismål, told Expressen that he did not want to comment on the matter.
Justice Minister Beatrice Ask told Expressen:
- The police behavior here is old-fashioned lumparjargong of the worst kind.
- This is irresponsible, misguided, says Minister of Justice.

treason.. To be silent about such things is treason against the people it hurts.
Look at Africa. There is alot of corruption in that continent. Governments can do pretty much what they want. Do you think that Africa is "effective" at anything that is good for the people?
