That was great compared to pretty much all the kids sparring I've seen.

I especially love the kid that gets hit in the face at :16 and then tries to jump in.

Good lord, that had better contact than most of the "proof" videos posted containing adults.

That was great. Loved when the one kid was just throwing knees into the other. The kids are going to be incredibly tough when they get older.

Are you guys thick or something? Repeated head trauma to a developing brain is insane, gloves and headgear or no. Kids are too young for that, plus their form is **** anyway.

Just as thick as you. That is a Belt test. There is more head contact in soccer, at that age, than the contact they had for a few seconds. If it was an everyday thing I'd have an issue.
Repeated head trauma to a developing brain is insane, gloves and headgear or no.Yawn.

I dont know...I think that all things considered they are showing good concentration and timing for sparring. They are a little sloppy but have you ever seen kids that age play hockey, soccer or football? Its a mess.

but have you ever seen kids that age play hockey, soccer or football? Its a mess.I tell people to only let their kids play flag at that age. A couple years ago one league had injuries damn near every week. They raised the age limit that kids could start. I am actually glad I didn't let my son play at that age.
Those point contact gloves and headgear have little or no padding they are **** for protection, so yawn and scoff all you want but if a boxing coach let kids that young spar like that with such shitty gear they'd be struck off.

They aren't boxing with a "boxing coach."

last night while running my 10 yr. old's soccer practice two unpadded kids got blasted in the face with an ungloved ball, two other kids took unprotected shots from me to their back and chest and another kid, wearing only shinguards, got tackled and dropped by me while scrimmaging.
Really for the amount of force and power those kids are generating, their crappy foam dipped gear is fine for the short amount of sparring they did for a belt grading.
Snake - repeat, 'children are not targets'.
Let's face it, Kaju people are bone deep crazy (I mean this in a good way). The sparring looked fine. Nice work.
I agree, the sparring looked fine.
However, that could have been any striking ma on the planet.
Kajukenbo is a technique based, self-defense style. Who can
tell from that?
As with a lot of stylized ma, these days, when the pads go on
the technique goes out the window. Those stressors that make
your technique disappear in sparring will be much worse in a real
(contest or street) fight situation.
But, at least they get some experience at hitting, and being hit.
That in itself is beneficial in this 'learning' environment.
Hey, Gramps, good find!
