Woman fights off three attackers using martial arts
A 20-YEAR-OLD woman used martial arts training to fight off three attackers who tried to steal her handbag as she walked along Margaret Street, Midland last week.
The incident happened about 1.15pm last Tuesday.
Detective Senior Constable Matt Lewis from Midland Detectives said the woman suffered cuts to her hands and torso after one of her attackers allegedly cut her with a trimming blade.
He said a girl aged about 13 grabbed the woman by her hair from behind and a tussle followed, which the victim escaped by using a martial arts hold.

It was at this point that a young male also aged about 13 joined in the assault and began waving the trimmer blade around, causing her injuries, Constable Lewis said.
A second much older male also ran at the young woman and swung a punch at her head which was again blocked.
He said the woman punched in the man in the right eye, causing him and the others to leave empty-handed.
Police described the first attacker as a dark-skinned girl aged 12 to 13, 150cm to 160cm tall, with long honey-brown hair and wearing a black singlet, white jumper and jeans.
The younger man is described as a dark-skinned male aged 12 to 13, wearing dark jeans, black sneakers and a dark grey or black shirt with white logo.
The older man was described as dark-skinned, 183-187cms tall, with wide shoulders and nose and wearing a dark T-shirt.
