So, I just took a shower, and this circle of mildly itchy red bumps has appeared on my left hip, right in the dimple of the buttock. The bumps are filled with fluid or anything, it just kind of looks like a very geometrically inclined spider or similar bug went to town on my left ass cheek. For whatever reason, they itch less if I'm wearing pants.
I'm guessing it's some of kind of BJJ-born skin infection. I'm going to go to the doctor tomorrow and check it out, but I was wondering if anyone's ever had similar symptoms and knows what the hell it is.

...the...the...Bumpy Lurgy!
been nice knowing you dude. Hip pox usually just takes a day or two.
AKA, I have no fucking idea, but are you sure it's not a bite/sting of some sort? How big are the bumps, and how wide is the circle? More info and I'll see what i can find out (my uber-boss is a Professor in infectious diseases)

Yeah, without being able to see it, ringworm sounds to be a likely culprit.
The stuff spreads like wildfire, so no rubbing that **** on your friends and associates. (Enemies? Let em' have it!) Don't spend too uch time touching it and playing with it or you could spread it around.
It's a simple and common fungus though, so fortunately there's an old world cure that works quite well.
Smother it in piss when you shower. No joke. (This skin treatment is Machida approved!)

Anti-fungal will also work pretty well. It'll save you the awkwardness of trying to piss on your own hip.

Ringworm.
You may want to shower with Head & Shoulders Shampoo and get some anti-fungal cream.

Yeah, I picked up some anti-fungal earlier today. I guess I'm going to have to go without BJJ until it clears up, which is kind of sad. On the other hand, that just means more weightlifting, which brings me closer to my ultimate goal of look like the bastard child of Gackt and the mighty Thor.

Ringworm or possibly staph. Definitely get it checked out by a doc to make sure.

Dandruff shampoo will work as an anti-fungal but there are a couple of things that we really need to look at here.
1. you need to be diagnosed
2. if it is fungal and you use a dandruff shampoo beware that you still need to use an antibacterial
I can email you a free skin infection chart and send you a free sample of our shower gel.
If you would like either or both just shoot me an email at defensesoap@msn.com

I wouldn't mind getting a free sample. I will even put in a review on Bullshido for you.

You're all way off base. It's RROD, which can be fixed for $30 by any number of people on craigslist.

Oh yeah, should I be avoiding having sex as well until this thing clears up, or just premarital grappling?

9/18/2010 1:42am,
When I had my first and only bout of ring worm on my forearm (started like your rash: circle of red bumps), I had it checked out and was prescribed Ketoconazole cream. Caught it from a guy who brought it in from a high school weight room (dirty high school kids). Him and I were the only 2 to catch it; we both treated it right away.
Don't mess around with any of the bleach/Tinactin/fingernail polish/kangaroo-**** methods that people swear by. See a doctor and do what he says. If he says Ketoconazole, get some. If he says get Tinactin, then go for it. If he says smear kangaroo **** on it, see another doctor. That's fucked up.
I stayed off the mat for a couple of weeks. I also kept it covered if there was chance that it might come in contact with someone else. I used either the big waterproof band-aids (clear sticky pads) or flexible fabric ones (Walgreens brand ones stay on through anything). Took about 2-3 weeks for it to fade.
Now, I use Defense wipes to wipe down my arms/legs/head (exposed body parts) immediately after rolling, then Defense soap when I get home. I even have the Defense spray bottle for my gear. Yes, I am a walking commercial for Defense soap now.
So, get it diagnosed, no direct contact with the infect area, keep it covered, and off the mat until it is completely gone. :-P
