Training with Alan

Alan Nascimento has been at our club monday and wednesday, working spider guard with us.

For the starting position:

  • My feet on the opponents hips
  • My knees on the inside of his arms
  • If he gets grips on my pantlegs, break them one by one before attempting any attack

Now from this we set up a kind of single leg guard:

  • My right foot drops down to his left knee (right on the inside of the knee) and pushes it back
  • Sit up into his right leg. As I sit up I pull his sleeves down and to the right
  • My left hand goes through his legs from behind. My right foot is still on his knee
  • My right hand feeds my left hand his left sleeve, his right sleeve, his left lapel or his belt.
  • I hug his right knee close to me and make sure it is on my right side. It must now cross over to my left side.

From this position we have trained different sweeps. I don't quite remember them all but the back up plan for when nothing obvious presents itself was to stand up and hold his leg for a takedown.

Tried to focus more on my leg drive, but still some lower back rounding.  Maybe time for some pulls from a deficit to improve that.  Was falling forward in the deadlift on the 540, don't know why.  Maybe uneven flooring.

Pull throughs of 175
10,10,10,8
